I was wondering if there were any musicians in the Oshawa/Durham region area (We actually live in Bowmanville) Ontario, Canada.
My girlfriend and I are starting a band, and would like some more members. So far we have Guitar, Bass, and Vocals (More vocals is good too if you play another instrument).
We want to play Rock/Post-Punk, etc. So along the lines of Sisters of Mercy, Queens of the Stone Age, 69 Eyes, Type o Negative, Bikini Kill, Joy Division, David Bowie, The Tea Party, The Cure, maybe some Japanese Rock, The Strokes, and whatever else we feel like playing. Starting as a cover band unless you have experience in writing music.

(Kind of desperate, since I can never find musicians who don't have a problem with me being Trans, so this seems like the best place.)

 so it's been awhile since anything has been posted to this group. bad moderator bad! i know i know. i started this group and it's in it's final deathrows. ohno. 

i just wanted to post about a group called, W.O.M.B (warriors of make believe) - their bassist is a transgender woman who i know through a mutual friend.

I am having trouble deciding how to end a composition. I would love some helpful commentary on the piece. I've been hesitant to "show" it in public, but I'm at a stop and am unsure of what to do.

Some information:
Originally, this piece was to be just variations on the Game Over theme from Zelda, but then it grew into more than that, so now I can only classify it a Rhapsody on a theme. The first 15 seconds are the original theme (I'm sure most of you are familiar with it) and the rest is mine. It starts out a little sluggish, but starts getting more creative around the two minute mark. I know there should be a grand restating of the original theme played out full length, but should I do it now or make it longer? If I were to do it now, I wonder what would be a good transition from what is at the end currently. The tail end of the piece is not entirely finished (will probably be longer), but for the most part everything else is as I want it, just needs a little tweaking in places. Does it need more build up? Bah, anyway, here's the file. Hope you like a healthy dose of dissonance in your music! You'll need an iTunes/Quicktime combo that can handle AAC files. It's a half-assed parody, I'll admit, but it made me laugh when it popped in my head. I wrote it in a way that I could sneak it in on unsuspecting people at a kareoke night sometime. That's just my style.

hello everyone. felt i could contribute to the community somewhat... maybe. i write/sing folk music (as best it can be described) under the moniker euphemisms; you can find it here. the issue is that my voice is indeed rather deep and undeniably male. even with changing how i use my voice, i don't feel i can sing otherwise. i'm afraid of losing the distinct little niche i've created for myself with my voice - then again the gimmick appeal of a woman folk musician singing as i do is almost too golden for it's own good. anyone else come across this situation?

Unfortunately I've had a sore throat for the past five days and can't really sing, but that hasn't stopped me from starting a new song :) Just thought I'd share with everyone. I put the vocal melody in with a piano in the verse and a flute in the chorus, since my voicebox is temporarily Out of Order. It's not quite finished yet, but I'm loving it so far.
