First things first, I finally put a new layout up at terra. It's based off one of spire's, which was in turn based off the layout at typesites. It's also based of, y'know, Opal, which would be a nice style if everything weren't wrong with it ever. And by everything, I mean the sidebar. I'm probably going to fiddle around with it some, and maybe even see if I can get custom comments pages to work without nesting, &c, but that is a job for another romantic afternoon spent in the company s2howto.
But, on the subject of layouts!! As I was saying to whisperwords, font like this is impossible to read, so don't do it. Unless you're trying to level up in illegible or you are James Bond and don't want the Communists intercepting your coded messages, there's no reason for your layouts to be impossible to read. So stop doing it, 99% of layout communities.
Hey I don't have anything new to report or any interesting observations or anything, so instead I will post scans of things I have not really drawn recently. Boss!
And, stolen from paperclipchains because I really want to talk about shipping for some strange reason:
a) I want to talk about how my ships and concept of shipping varies with fandom, so name a fandom and I'll discuss what I ship and what shipping means to me in that fandom.
b) I have a lot of fandoms. (No kidding!) Have you ever wondered about one of the fandom I sometimes mention on my journal which you don't know of? Ask me any question you want about them!
EDIT: GODDAMN IT 18th CENTURY PRINTING, why are you so hard to read??
Uh, some interest was expressed in this, so well, here we gooooo.
Title: Blood from a Stone Fandom:Final Fantasy VI Characters: Locke, mentions of Rachel, assorted merchants and rascals. (Gen!) Rating: PG Warnings: Locke, therefore necrophilia assumed. Summary: While Celes sleeps, Locke tries to make sense of things in the World of Ruin. Results are predictably mixed. Thanks to Aery for the beta.
First, I was fooling around with a scanner today, so here is a look at the doodles I've made over the last...two days. I do draw a lot, but I don't post much here for some reason, mostly because I do a lot of pencil sketching and not a lot of anything else. Well, unless my stick figures count.
First off, I got tagged by efters to do the handwriting meme.
Handwrite the following things and upload it so your friends can see what your handwriting looks like! 1) name/username 2) left or right handed? 3) favourite letters to write 4) least favourite characters to write 5) write "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog." 6) tag 5 people
Now for the meat of this post: crack Final Fantasy crossover fanart!! I've had some requests and, um, yeah, so you can either click or pretend this never happened.
And now for some audience participation: Comment with something (or a few somethings) that you would like me to make a "Top 5" list of. (Top 5 TV shows, etc, whatever) I'll post them in my next entry.. BE CRUEL.
Welcome new friends from ye olde Tales friending meme. One thing you should know about me: sometimes I fill my posts with links to crappy fanart from the Final Fantasys with pixels. And I haven't done it in a while, so here comes the art dump.
In the spirit of getting to know you and procrastination, and because I'm old and bitter in the ways of the internet, I am reviving that old "Unpopular Fandom Opinions" meme that I never did. I always wanted to, but I sort of put it off for quite a long time.
This is me totally abusing exit47's awesome overrides. I wanted an imageless layout for a while, for a nice change. Uh, plenty of kinks still to work out, but I'm getting there in a slow but sure fashion. In the next week or so I want to redo my usericons so they're all arranged and pretty. That and rename this journal. I like the literary/Biblical reference, but it's really long. And I have a neat Old Kingdom name in mind that isn't taken.
So, I've been watching a lot of Season 2 Buffy now, and I think maybe Xander/Cordelia is my favorite pairing on the show. Of course, I think that about every pairing on that show as I watch it, but I might mean it this time.
For some reason I'm really bad at making fun of Final Fantasy VI. I find it easy to mock other video games, no matter how much I like them, but my FFVI humor ability is looow. Which is why the next stupid comics I draw will either feature Vagrant Story or Tales of Symphonia.
So, I finished off the Prydain Chronicles, which I read in the most bizzare order ever. (Also, my copy of the Castle of Llyr is missing. Huh.) So now I picked up The Fencing Master, but Arturo Perez-Reverte, and I'm thinking I might have to reread all of his books that I own next. If you like Alexandre Dumas or anything historic, adventurey, and page-turning, I highly recommend him. My favorites are The Fencing Master and The Seville Communion, but The Club Dumas is a murder mystery based on The Three Musketeers, so insert some fannish glee there. He's the sort of author who can reference Homer, Batman, and Master and Commander in one sentence.
And to think when I started this post I thought I was going to talk about summer movies.
