Some irrelevant mumblings on Robin's age:

I'm not a huge stickler for fictional character ages (unless I'm trying to convince someone is fucking old, like actually Bruce is OVER 85 years old in Batman Beyond, and all might is ACTUALLY around 60 in BNHA NOT 40). Interestingly enough, the depiction of Robin in the Teen Titans cartoon would probably be closer to 17-20 than a young teenager. Dick is over 18 by the time he breaks up with Batman in the comics, and moves out to become his own man (Nightwing)!

Yes, I found these screenshots while rifling around on the Teen Titans wikia for how short Robin is. Yes, he's 5'4, and I don't believe he'll get much taller since he's probably already hit 18 LOL. Check the alt text for transcriptions!






Here's a screenshot from the 90's Batman cartoon, where Dick is graduating from college (so around 22?) but still getting calls from Batman to put on his baby Robin pajamas.


It really amuses me when man-children are supposed to be men but act more like children. Robin's getting a bit too old for TEEN titans, that's why he's graduated from boy scout to scout leader. Real TF2 Scout shit. Be 27 but everyone thinks you're 15 cuz you just a dumb monke with no hairs on your damn chin. ✊😔 Also you're wearing stupid clothes that make you look like a stupid kid. solidarity.

Hmm what happens to TEEN titans once they're no longer teenagers?!?!? You immediately go to the Justice League? Gotta be an awkward den mother while you wait for a real job and stand around in your little green shorts?!?

I'd like to use this blog post to comply with Shane's request, and post my "red drawings" as he calls them LOL. I'll talk a bit about the process, since they were my first forays into drawing with CSP and truly getting comfortable with digital art

Slade as the TOP?!! Well, he's a panther, so that makes sense right? Cuz you wouldn't put your pp in a cat, freak!!

I'm still no-no on Slade's PENIS in Dick's BUTTHOLE (his name is DICK!!!!), but I enjoy mommy dommy Slade at times :) I like to make fursonas for characters I like... of course Nightwing is some sort of bird. Like. A robin or something. That fell in black paint and got goth? I always describe Slade's voice acting in the cartoon as "Ron Perlman's lisping MILF purr", and I think that lends itself well to a nice big kitty! They like to play with their prey, and bat them around for a bit before wandering off to poo in a litter box.

Ah, textured brushes in Photoshop! I was getting frustrated with the line quality I was getting in my old version of Photoshop CS6, which has no line correction and thus reveals all the shakiness of my natural hand. So I leaned into textured brushes to cover that up, and add visual interest. I lean towards doing "cleaner" newgrounds/flash cartoon style lineart with "finished" (scare quotes aaaa!) digital art, cuz that's what I grew up wanting to emulate LOL.

I still like these brushes actually, they're in a format (ABR) that's not directly convertible to CSP? They were fun for shiny latex texture.
They're called "HS - Canvas Sketch 0.1" for the hairy dry look, and "HS - Canvas Flat Invert 0.1" for the lil dot texture. I think they're from DeviantArt. I'd love to have them for CSP.

The "red drawing", as Shane calls it. Intended as a direct mirror to the prior blue piece, it now has a red background and Nightwing being the mommy dommy succin' on Slade's metal neck! Slade's never frightened in the cartoon really, so it's nice to play around with breaking the stoic seme exterior... maybe he's scared that the boy he groomed is now frighteningly obsessed with him after years of getting older and more broken after super-hell!

This was my absolute first thing drawn in CSP, or Manga Studio as it was called once upon a time... I believe this was the default "G-Pen" brush, for inking and coloring. I wasn't quite comfortable yet with the brush feel, and almost felt like giving up on Manga Studio. Glad I kept chugging with it. The black fill for this piece is both because I was frustrated with inking, and because it just looks REALLY sexy to have matte black take up most of your art. I like shiny latex texture, but the deepness of matte black has its own allure.

Another red piece, from 2 years after the first? Something about not knowing who's controlling who!  Slade has the collar, but he holds Nightwing's hair, petting him like a dog... I think they both are obsessed with each other at this point, and every encounter they have continues to be dubiously consensual but mutually fulfilling.  Dick is feeling very naughty cuz he's dick height!  Or shall we say, camel toe height.  

At this point I'm a lot more comfortable with CSP, and you can see it in how I can enjoy hatching lines and doing looser shapes.  This time, it's a textured G-Pen that has more thin-thick control.  I tend to draw the black shadows (like on Slade's outfit and armor) with an outline first, and then fill it in with the paint bucket tool.  I feel like it's more efficient to fill it in with black first, THEN go over it with the shine?  But it gives my brain the good stim to draw the shadows.  Oooh repetitive motions like hatching... monke like.

Hey, all this is just more proof that you can still love something from the ages of 8 to 100, and gain even GREATER insight from going grandpa mode.  I drew a lot of Nightslade in 2018, and slowed down a bit after getting my thoughts out, but I still draw pieces whenever Shane and I get the poggy mood.

And, I liked Sladin as a kid, and was not picky about Slade dom-topping.  Maybe I even assumed that was the default for that dynamic!  Now I much prefer that Robin was a Nightwing that's more around my age, with sexy long hair, and the allure of going balls deep into Slade's power bottom butt holds my balls in an overwhelming hypnotic vicegrip.  Gomenasai for the Yumejoshi-Fujoshi party rocking.
