From the Halls of Mandos
My darling hubbit sent me a link to TORn regarding Christopher Tolkien stepping away from his position at the Tolkien estate [something I never thought he would do voluntarily]. Together with the news of a new LOTR television series, the return to TheOneRing.net website brought up such bittersweet memories for me.
It's been nearly 15 years since LOTR Chicago Fellowship. It was even longer since I saw the LOTR films in the theaters and dove head-first into the fandom and all the strange and wonderful things that happened afterward. It's been over ten years since we closed up the fan club and sailed to the West, so to speak. Not even the Hobbit films brought back the feelings I've felt about it all--I loved the films as I love all of PJ's vision of Middle Earth, but it didn't bring on this wave of nostalgia I'm feeling this morning. I truly feel that it's all gone, now.
