[ID: Jack Rackham’s actor from Black Sails sitting sideways on a short fold out chair on a beach and holding a red umbrella. He has tinted glasses on and is looking at the viewer questionably. In the background near the water are people out-of-focus. Red text in all caps is overlayed on top of the image and reads, “Saturday Chillin. Don’t fuckin @ me today”, and fancy blue text follows after with, “I’m chillin”. End ID]

wretcheddthing asked:
hello my friend!! I hope you’re having a beautiful week :)
i aam!! It’s been a Long week but we had a charter group this afternoon that left us with a cooler full of beer and even though there’s a wedding or some shit happening loudly at the pier is a beautiful night and I’m so excited to go to sleep :3
The thing about professional wrestling that I find really and truly fascinating is that it takes place in a setting where
- Magic is unambiguously real
- That fact is completely irrelevant 98% of the time and has little bearing on anything
Most settings where magic is real are about magic. The wizards are the main characters or the antagonists. The presence of ghosts or mutants comes up within the first three sentences of any reasonable summary, or is a major plot twist that changes the entire story.
Meanwhile pro wrestling is a combat sport with scripted outcomes and surrounding storylines. "And also sometimes they do necromancy" is such an extraneous detail not worth mentioning. But also I cannot stress enough that sometimes they do necromancy.
You can go an entire show with zero wizard nonsense, but at any given point on any show in any promotion it wouldn't be shocking for a wizard (or demon or alien or vampire etc) to appear.
The wizards don't even win particularly often. Having actual magic powers that you use to cheat is actually somewhat less effective than "hitting someone with a blunt object while the referee is distracted" or "being large".
Funniest possible approach to magic.
there are three notable magical wrestlers to have gotten wins via magic:
- The Undertaker. he's a zombie cowboy undertaker biker wizard. he has lightning powers, can turn people evil, and can teleport
- Bray Wyatt and The Fiend. Bray Wyatt stole The Undertaker's lightning powers and had the power to summon insects and bugs, but otherwise didn't win very often. however, when he was possessed by The Fiend, he went on to be unbeaten for ages
- Finn Balor and The Demon. The Demon is a guy that possesses Finn Balor. most of the time, when The Demon is wrestling, he's impossible to beat
so the way to be successful as a magical wrestler is to make friends with some kind of demon or devil and let them possess you, or to get really into Limp Bizkit
acres as a unit of measurement are so preposterous i feel like ive been retroactively pranked my whole life. 66 feet by 660 feet. 1/640th of a square mile. get fucking real
and then you ask what defines it and they start talking about oxen and chains and long fur like okay is this a unit of measure or the set up for an allegorical furry comic
'dignity of risk' is a good phrase for when you're looking for something inspiring to mutter to yourself before making a questionable choice
also, the finished mum loons! #mumloons
enjoyed making my own loons (#myloons) so much i didn't even wait to start the second, so it was finished just in time to go camping! loons are the emblem of the national park we've gone to almost every year since i was little so it was very meaningful to spend the summer working on this pattern.
