"Just a half-mile from the railroad track."

This year's (U.S.) Thanksgiving featured multiple traditions: listening to Alice's Restaurant (I suggest singing a bar during your next protest), essentially AYCE sushi (call-back to a tradition started many years ago when living near NYC and its cornucopia of restaurants), time spent staring at a TV screen (watching a movie, not football), and tasty dessert (friend makes tiramisu with home-made mascarpone). It all couldn't be beat, though last year's dim sum feed came close.

Unlike me, I know many people are fond of the "turkey with all the trimmings" Thanksgiving menu. Some get downright angry about (hypothetically) having to provide "tofurkey" for vegetarians at the table. Thinking about that while missing Fu Loon in Malden (source of many tasty T-Day & X-Mess meals) led me the idea of Ma Po Tofurkey, swapping in ground turkey for the traditional beef or pork (which is of course already a thing). Add some Yunnan Grandma's Mashed Potatoes, Sichuan Dry Fried Green Beans, and kung pao or candied sweet potatoes and you've got the start of a new traditional menu (no doubt available at Alice's Restaurant, which isn't the name of the restaurant, just the song). As for dessert, maybe dan tat? Sounds good to me and I welcome other suggested additions. Traditions are what you make them.
