Waxing moon on the 6th of June...

... and not a convoy in sight. Plenty of weather though. This morning's heavy rain was heralded by enough thunder that I made an interim back-up just in case but those storms passed to the north and we didn't lose power. We're forecast for only a slight chance of thunderstorms overnight but there are plenty of colorful blobs on the weather radar that may have different plans. At least I don't have to worry about watering the garden for a bit.

I did manage to get my late-bought veg starts et al. into the ground this past weekend and stay above it myself. They seem to be establishing while the beans I planted in mid-May have barely started sprouting (they like it warm). Someone forgot to tell the snow peas and lettuce (planted late April) that they prefer cooler weather and they're only now starting to grow noticeably. Presumably everything will catch up everywhere all at once, get eaten by pests, and/or die of diseases. Gardening is fun!

Recovery continues with the conservation of tired as I keep doing more than I can rest up after. Did a bunch of driving errands this past week, both planned and unplanned. One of the latter was a visit to urgent care for prophylactic antibiotics after pulling a deer tick of the back of my knee; 'tis the season. "No-mow May" needs to turn into "mow soon June", at least around the garden. Will definitely leave some tall grass for fireflies around the perimeter (which I won't check since the mosquitoes patrol there).

Still glad to have made it to June and enjoyed a couple days of nice weather before July barged in early. Fingers crossed it backs off some, I'd like to blow off some of the housework I can do again in favor of roses and strawberries.

Ah, the circle of life.

Meanwhile we've gone straight from heating to air conditioning. I can't remember the last time we had a Saturday or a Sunday when it didn't rain. Why am I still working a day job again?
