May Be becomes May Was.
It was a mixed-up month with thankfully no actual Mayhem. There was miscellaneous medical maintenance (nothing exciting) and minor illnesses (not COVID) to deal with. Also paperwork, automotive annoyances (mine is now a cranky teenager), cat concerns, and prepping for the next round of interior contractor work (mostly moving stuff around to facilitate packing and moving other stuff and never quite getting to the unpacking stage). The cats are not happy with the ongoing disruptions. To be fair, neither am I.
Moar May Miscellany:
Today's weather was lovely (warm , sunny, and dry) and the near-term forecast calls for more of the same, which means it's time for a pine pollen dump (saw the first traces on my car today). Presumably wood-roaches and mosquitoes will follow soon, in June.
Moar May Miscellany:
- ++ Meeting up with friends from away got us two new-to-us restos: Crying Thaiger in Malden (very good) and Beyti's Mediterranean Grill & Pizza in Fitchburg (fantastic Turkish mezze and shawarma in a tiny mostly take-out place).
- --+- Missed seeing the aurora; frotz was out of town and I was way too shagged to go hunting on my own. Didn't make it to Mt. Auburn Cemetery for warbler walks either but did see and hear a couple in the yard while getting a belated start on the veg garden. (Temps hitting 90°F plus humidity did not help with that.)
- ++ Outcrufted in the direction of our local comic and game store (whose existence I only became aware of recently). They seem to be good folks and I'll probably do another round soon. The D&D miniatures from the 80's weren't worth much but now they've gone somewhere other than a landfill, and my old comics bought us lobster rolls (see next item). Woot.
- ++ Marked Mem. Day weekend with a half-daycation to Portland (ME) for the season's first lobster rolls, a visit to a favorite garden nursery, and a late afternoon walk on a beach. Also grilled burgers, as
onethe neighborhood does. (There were at least two parties on our street, good thing I like Abba.) - +- Exterior house maintenance brought us painters when weather and scheduling permitted. House is scraped, power-washed, and mostly primed, the latter interrupted by yesterday's forecast "chance of showers" turning into prolonged soaking rain. Great for the garden, not so much for the house when there are no downspouts. Frotz's diverter kludges seem to have kept the basement dry-enough for now.
- There was another thing that happened yesterday. I just hope the jurors will be okay.
