I came across this excellent article by Mona Eltahawy: "It's time to stop treating women like a cheap bargaining chip." I'm sad (but not surprised) that I hadn't really heard of her before this; she also wrote Why Do They Hate Us?" back in 2012.

I also haven't heard enough about the 27 women included in the embedded slideshow, "The women who are shaping our world." There's a pattern here, and it's not just that I'm not paying attention.

The theme for this year's International Women's Day is "Make It Happen." Call for greater equality, they say. But who's listening?
