Starfire is getting some hate for being Robin's canon romance. Bizarrely enough, not from the usual suspects this time, but from fans jealous that she took Robin away from them.
Die For Our Ship annoys me in all forms but when the ship is Fictional Character/Me I just... I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS.
THE CHARACTER IS FICTIONAL. FICTIONAL CHARACTERS CANNOT CONFESS THEIR LOVE TO YOU. THEY CANNOT BE WITH YOU. YOU HAVE LESS CHANCE TO BE WITH THESE PEOPLE THAN YOU DO WITH CELEBRITIES. WHY IS IT SUCH A PROBLEM THAT THEY HAVE A CANON ROMANCE?
DOES STARFIRE'S EXISTENCE SOMEHOW INVALIDATE YOUR CRUSH ON ROBIN? WHAT?!
Look okay, I sort of maybe get it. There was one point that I was pretty absolutely convinced I was going to marry Elijah Wood. But you know what? I was fourteen. And I grew out of it. And realized, ha ha wow, that's silly, I'm probably never going to even meet him in my lifetime, 'tis pointless to get possessive over him and hiss at other fangirls just for expressing their own interest in him. We can share! There's enough Elijah Wood for the fantasies of all.
Like, do these people get hissy at other fans for having crushes on Robin too? It is just Starfire that gets the hate? Do the fans not realize they can self-insert into Starfire? Or create their own self-insert? Or just imagine Robin being into them instead?
Moody and crampy today. And my fandoms are frustrating. Young Justice broke up Supermartian and had a time skip. (I'm really only upset about the former.) Still haven't seen the episode in question or new Korra. (I keep checking Nick's website but no dice still. I'm afraid they won't post them thanks to the leak a couple days ago.)
Can I forgo my Lady post until I feel better?
I'm gonna do that. I'll definitely have one next week, but for now, I just feel too miserable.
As before, my completely biased picks for Oscar winners, in which I care very very little about the acting awards and put all my interest and focus towards the technical Oscars. Because I'm weird like that.
The TV spots for Good Christian Bitches (or GCB as they're calling it, ineffectively trying to hide the profanity) have started playing on the television.
Dear X'hal I never thought I could hate a show that hadn't aired yet more.
It's set in Texas.
WHY. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO MY HOME STATE YOU HOLLYWOOD HACKS? I SINCERELY DOUBT FROM THE SHEER AMOUNT OF STEREOTYPING JUST IN THE THIRTY SECOND AD THAT YOU'RE GOING TO PORTRAY MY STATE IN ANY KIND OF POSITIVE LIGHT.
Though I will admit, I did laugh a little at this mom-daughter exchange:
Teenage Daughter Played By Way To Old To Play A Teenager Actress: "You have two guns, mom. What are you afraid of?" Mom Who May Or May Not Be Played By Kristen Chenoweth I've Forgotten: *cocks shotgun with a smirk* "Not a damn thing."
Aside from that the obnoxious visual stereotyping already makes my eyes hurt.
Go crash and burn on your premiere day show. Leave my state alone.
I encountered my first villains today. As in, players that have chosen, for whatever inconceivable reason, to play as villains, rather than NPCs that hail from the large list of DC baddies.
Good godswallop were they jerks to me. I was going along, just trying to complete my mission (was on the Raven-Trigon one at the time, so I had to whallop flame demons and close portals and stuff) and all of a sudden I get attacked by huge armored behemoths, and my bb goes, "Oh snap! That's a villain!" All the ones I met were ridiculously overpowered in comparison to my character and just wiped the floor with poor Alorele several times. It was impossible to escape them once they came at me too.
Fortunately, I managed to learn to recognize them and avoid them. And complete my mission.
It was a ridiculous amount of fun doing the Raven mission. I got to see Cyborg and Starfire and Donna and Raven and Nightwing and Nightwing was kind of useless in the fight once I'd freed him from Raven's influence because he kept doing his spinning top... thing too far out of range to do any damage to Donna and Starfire was unbearably sweet and adorable and I LOVE HER SO MUCH and Cyborg and I got to tag-team and it was basically just really awesome.
Yay.
I uh... I may have also fangirl-squeed a bit when Nightwing took Starfire with him to go search the upper levels of the compound and they went off together. Yeah.
