The scanner assembly was an array of tubes which ran along the ceiling outside the glass wall of the fault locator room in the default TARDIS control room. During the First Doctor's early travels, one model of the TARDIS scanner was installed in the assembly. (TV: An Unearthly Child [+]Loading...["An Unearthly Child (TV story)"])

A version of the assembly with four tubes was in the TARDIS control room which the Third Doctor began using around the First Omega Crisis. This version's TARDIS scanner hung in front of the two middle tubes. (TV: The Three Doctors [+]Loading...["The Three Doctors (TV story)"])
