Ron Oates was the visual effects designer on the Doctor Who television stories The Abominable Snowmen, The Ice Warriors, The Web of Fear, The Dominators and The Green Death.
He was the main visual effects designer for the Barry Letts/Terrance Dicks creation Moonbase 3 and worked extensively on the earliest series of the seminal comedy The Goodies, as well as two episodes of Out of the Unknown.
