The Third Doctor arrived in 2971 after he was asked by millionaire John Henderson to drive his time-travelling bulldozer into the future. The Doctor found the society of 2971 primitive and warlike. One of Henderson's descendants ruled part of the future world. The rest was ruled by King Trent. The Doctor and the ex-prisoner Ben Cooper helped them see the error of their ways and declare peace.
