Friends Only

This journal is friends only, comment to be added.

When I was a little girl, I heard the watered down version of Little Red Riding Hood and didn't think much about the story. It seemed like standard fairy tale fare, and then a neighbor told me the original story, or at least what is thought to be the original. It's dark and filled with symbolisms probably as old as civilisation. Then there is the rendering of the tale you'll hear in Jin-Roh, and I suppose the following falls somewhere in between. Yes, I am aware of just how sexist this story is while trying to instill a good amount of paranoia, but I am of the opinion we should know the less than savory details of our history in all things, including fairy tales.

Little girls, this seems to say, Never stop upon your way, Never trust a stranger-friend; No one knows how it will end. As you’re pretty so be wise; Wolves may lurk in every guise. Handsome they may be, and kind, Gay, and charming — nevermind! Now, as then, ‘tis simple truth — Sweetest tongue has sharpest tooth!
