Uruguay has been a stable democracy since the end of the Cold War. Like many Latin American countries, it saw a period of economic stagnation and mass privatization in the 1990s. This was followed by a 15-year period of center-left political dominance, which saw the introduction of some of the most progressive politics in the continent.
Uruguay has one of the most eclectic pools of armored vehicles in the Americas. This includes modernized Belgian M41 Walker Bulldogs (designated M41A1U), Israeli Tiran-5Shs (captured and modified Soviet T-55s), Czechoslovak OT-64 SKOTs and BVP-1s, and Canadian LAV-I Cougars, among others. Uruguayan troops have distinguished themselves in UN peacekeeping missions in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

yall are forgetting it was the last country to retire the m4 sherman try and find things to add to uguary since i do know they didn't retire and m4 til 2019.
My friend, Uruguayan Army never had Sherman tanks on service, so badly could be the last country to retire them from service. Regards from Montevideo, Uruguay!
Again, I must emphasize that Uruguayan Army never had M4 armored vehicles in service. The confusion may be due to the fact that yes did have M24 Chaffees until approx. 2019 and still has M41 Walker Bulldogs in service, some bought to Belgium by 1976/77 and others received from Brazilian Army by 2018/2019, to replace M24 Chaffees. Again, best regards from Montevideo, Uruguay.
