A stylized illustration of Japanese resident orcas, one adult female and an adult male. Their coloration is pretty much the same as most other killer whales, though they seem to have a yellowish tint to their white markings sometimes and like other residents, there’s a lot of individuals with open saddle patches. They also have longer bodies and their fins and flippers are noticeably larger, though the size varies depending on the sex, adult males having the largest in proportion to their body. The art style is reminiscent of a toon shaded 3D model.ALT

More animal illustrations. I’ve wanted to draw Japanese resident killer whales for a long time. They’re probably my favorite residents, because they seem even longer and more streamlined than other populations, for some reason. That and their fins and flippers look bigger. I also love how some have very skinny eyepatches. Overall, very beautiful whales and definitely on my bucket list of populations I need to see in person.
