Long time, no post. I don't manage to keep up with lj much these days because the mobile format sucks. Regardless, went to nashville supernatural con this weekend. I am not a big fan of asking others to donate to causes, no matter how worthy the cause. But these folks are in dire need of help (you can see the details on the page)

Random update is random, as usual. I have pictures to share, even though most of you still reading this journal have probably already seen them.

Busy happenings here since August or so - I did GISHWHES per my previous post, followed  by a week of down time before I had to fly to Poland for work. Wroclaw is very different in summer compared to february - there's actually people on the streets. In summation; decent trip, saw Auschwitz which was heavy and which I won't go into detail on because there's nothing I could say about it that other people haven't said better.
Then home for about a week and a half before going up to boston for a week to see bironic (yay!). Visit included a labor day bbq/vid watching party, a trip to the aquarium, watching broadchurch (best watched with someone who's willing to poke fun at it with you) and gilmore girls (ditto), seeing mini strandbeests , and bironic's endless patience while I shopped for clothing and various costume pieces. I've abbreviated the trip a lot, which is not to imply it wasn't great - it was awesome by default because it meant time hanging out with bironic.
Friday morning flew down to Dallas for the Supernatural convention.

p.s. I've never felt short until I got my photos back and saw how much taller even Misha and mark are than me (I know they're not short; I just didn't think the height difference would be that obvious, as i'm 5'7")
Now home again, and all my planned adventures are done with. With all the travel, my diet and exercise hasn't been normal since the start of august, so hopefully I can get back on track quickly.
Also, I now have a washer/dryer! this is an excellent thing.

This will likely only interest US Citizens.
Most of you who know me know I generally try to stay out of polical discussions. I can't help myself here.
What's below the cuts?
My own opinion on the government, media and public, at least in relationship to what I consider are some core elements. Also a link to a petition related to congressional reform.
What it is NOT is partisan (at least, I hope not). I am not trying to play politics or further divide us – I am actually hoping that these are things folks from any party might agree with.

Have arrived in Sweden (but only been in the hotel so far) -- despite the fact that my arranged car to the ariport never showed up. Or, rather, showed up an hour late and well after I had given up waiting and was 3/4 of the way to the airport driving myself.

Anyway, hp_beholder posted reveals a bit ago and I'm terribly, horribly behind on keeping up with posts lately, but here's my story from it:

I have cats now! YAY! : D Aren't they pretty? They're still getting settled in, but they seem to be settling in quickly, and are very sweet. They came with the names Marla and Tyler, but I might rename them if I can think of something better... ideas welcome; you can tell from the pix. they look extremely similar.

dear car dealers,
If you don't bother to read my emails, why would I want to do business with you?
"I want OTD pricing" does not mean I want you just to give me the MSRP on the vehicle and nothing else.
"I have test driven the vehicle already" does not mean you should invite me to the dealership to test drive the vehicle (which, by the way, none of you actually have in stock. I know because I had to drive 2 hours away to do the test drive).
"I want to use email to correspond and do not use my phone" is not a clever ruse, it's the truth. Trying to call me will result in you leaving messages that annoy me, and probably frustrate you. Telling me to call you to set up/discuss anything will only result in my emails becoming more abrupt.
"I know there are none of this specific vehicle in stock but am interested in ordering one to my specifications" does not mean I need you to tell me that there are none with that build/color in the US. Also, how stupid are those of you that just tell me there aren't any in stock and don't even suggest that I could order one built to my specs? Way to go after the sale, buddy.
Telling me I should call you so that we can discuss the options I want, after i've stated which options i want int the email, pretty much means I'm going to assume you are illiterate and ignore you.

Seriously, and I mean, Seriously, I am half tempted to rule out 90% of the dealerships I've requested quotes from because they don't actually appear capable of reading my email or responding to what I'm asking for. I really don't feel I'm being misleading or obscure in my statements here. WTF people.

and don't even get me started on how work is.

And then I was at work for 23.5 hours.
