This is Langdon’s last chance to make things right with Abby after she threatened to divorce him and take the kids away but somehow stayed. Yet, he’s hanging around the hospital, taking on extra cases, apologizing for being late, looking for Mel, declining (Abby’s) calls.

If getting off on the right foot with Abby was priority number one, he should have clocked out right behind Joy. But, how would that work since he’s on his redemption tour in the ED? He’s making promises to Abby he can’t possibly keep.

This also speaks to Abby having unrealistic expectations. What did she think their marriage was going to look like with Langdon being an emergency medicine resident? She had to know his focus would be on that hospital. Did she not sign up for this?

Do You Wipe Your Ass Every Time You Poop

Yes. 100% of the time. Provided there is toilet paper available.

No. Not 100% of the time. If toilet paper is available I sometimes choose not to

I just learned something I find absolutely disgusting about my boyfriend and I am fucking nauseous about it but need to get him peer reviewed before I completely loose my mind because I am so afraid of over reacting.

Okay so Kingdon recap of the Season 2 scripts Part 1!

Find Part 2 here

For context: the Writer's Guild Foundation Library in LA allows you to visit the library and view any of the scripts that they have. They are only available in person, and you aren't allowed to take pictures, but you're allowed to take as many notes as you want. If you have any questions on this process feel free to hit me up!

I also want to preface this with saying that anything that was cut from the original scripts is not canon, however it's interesting to see what the writers were thinking at one point. It's also interesting to see what was not originally in the script and got added in later on

Let's do the highlight reel in chronological order

  • When Frank and Mel are first reunited with the "Dr. Langdon!" scene, the direction notes are "Mel’s mood suddenly brightens and she almost hugs him, but comes up short and awkward"
  • There's a moment that was cut of Liam (the bike injury criminal) and Mel, where he asks if she has "anyone special" and she says "No. Work keeps me very busy"
  • When Liam asks what Mel herself likes to do the direction notes are "It’s been a while since anyone asked Mel this – if ever. Hell, she isn’t even sure what she does for fun and has to think about it"
  • When Mel is hurt: "Langdon spots Mel, getting checked over by Dana and Perlah at the North Hub. Sensing something’s wrong, he moves away"
  • The script had Frank originally saying "inside joke" rather than "inside thing"
  • This scene ends with the direction that Mel is "glad Langdon’s here"
  • After Frank tells Mel that he was gone due to his benzos addiction, the direction is "Mel nods – this may be the worst news she’s ever heard"
  • "You didn’t let me down" in the script when the episode had "you never let me down"
  • and Frank responds "Yeah, I did. I should be setting an example, not a cautionary tale"
  • When the cops are telling Mel she might need to testify with Liam "Langdon realizes she needs some space"
  • They start to leave, but Langdon pauses. He turns off the lights "The ER can be a little bright as noisy" Langdon winks at Mel, then closes the door behind them (HELLO?????)
  • When Frank is talking to Dana in the break room in ep6 "I almost lost everything. There are plenty of women who would’ve left me and taken the kids. But Abby stayed. I don’t know why, but she stayed"
  • The rest of that quote is basically the same as in the episode, but "I don't know why, but she stayed" was cut. Can you say "marriage in crisis?"

thinking about how mel never even wanted or needed an apology from langdon about his absence and was genuinely just happy to have him back in any way she could and wrapped herself around his arm at the mere sight of him 😭

she heard the rumors and didnt care 😭😭

she doesnt think twice about him being assigned to becca, the most important person in the world to her😭😭😭

the girl who is bad at social cues realizes when he’s upset and takes time out of her shift to chase after him to encourage him in the breakroom😭😭😭😭

i am SICK

When Mel said she learned a long time ago not to listen to rumours—growing up so many rumours and untruths were spread about her and Becca. To which her mantra became if you don’t have the guts to say it to my face, I don’t have time to listen.

The two loneliest people in Pittsburgh took refuge in Mel’s apartment. Frank went along with the charade that the six hours he’d been on her couch watching Netflix and eating Mexican food was just two friends keeping each other company, but the undertones were getting harder to ignore.
