Additional field in contact info (external services) on the user profile.

Short, concise description of the idea
Telegram has become a popular messaging platform. It would be nice to be able to post a Telegram account in a Live Journal profile.

Full description of the idea
In the "Contact Info" (external services) section of a Live Journal profile, there already exists a place to post account names for such platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Vkontakte, Instagram, Flickr, Pinterest, Linkedin ID, Open ID, AOL IM, ICQ UIN, YahooI ID, Microsoft Account, XMPP, Google Talk, Skype and Last FM. I would like Telegram to be added to that field. Some of the services already listed are defunct and should be removed.

An ordered list of benefits
  • This would allow more communication among Live Journal users.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • I honestly cannot think of any drawbacks to this suggestion.

Update the share to ok.ru link.

Title
Update the share to ok.ru link.

Short, concise description of the idea
The Classmates / одноклассники website ok.ru informed me that the share to OK process currently used by LJ is out-dated and slow and that a new method is available.

Full description of the idea
The LJ method of sharing to ok.ru is out-dated and slow. Please consider updating the share to method as outlined here... https://apiok.ru/ext/like

An ordered list of benefits
  • The better the ability to share to other social platforms, the more viable LJ becomes.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • The LJ method of sharing to ok.ru is out-dated and slow.
  • Rather than removing the share to Ook.ru option, as LJ did with my.mail.ru at the end of 2017, why not update it?

Add "Pinterest" to List of External Services

Title
Add "Pinterest" to List of External Services

Short, concise description of the idea
In the Connect Section of the Profile Page, add Pinterest to the list of External Services.

Full description of the idea
Pinterest is an up-and-coming social network that is already linked to Twitter and Facebook. I think it'd be great to list it as one of the External Services options on the Profile Page.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Another way to connect with other LiveJournal users; another way for LiveJournal users to share information about themselves.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Very little - a few tweaks of the code.

Community to Twitter linking

Title
Community to Twitter linking

Short, concise description of the idea
I think there should be an option to link a community to a Twitter account.

Full description of the idea
On personal journals, you have the option to send a link to Twitter every time you post. Having the same option for a community would be a neat idea to help bring more exposure through a social media forum.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Most communities here on livejournal pertain to artwork or fiction being written, and being able to link the community to a Twitter account would help bring more exposure to that community, and therefore to livejournal itself.
  • It saves the community moderator/owner a bit of time so that they won't have to personally link every post in the community to a separate Twitter account.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • The only issue I see, would be having to link other posters in the community, to the Twitter account for the community.

  • More exposure for JL
  • You'll be on time, rather than late like you were with the FB posting functionality
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Google+ may not take off
  • You have to build the functionality

Post to Tumblr as well as Facebook and Twitter

Title
Post to Tumblr as well as Facebook and Twitter

Short, concise description of the idea
I'd like the ability to crosspost LJ entries not only to twitter and facebook, but to Tumblr as well.

Full description of the idea
By going to the settings, LJ gives the option of posting entries to your Facebook and Twitter. I'd like an opt in version of this to post LJ entries to Tumblr with tags included. Tumblr imports LJ content via RSS IF you have an RSS enabled Tumblr. The problem with that is it doesn't post the content as it's updated. It puts it in an queue with an undetermined post time frame.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Potentially drives more traffic to your LJ
  • Potentially drives more traffic to your tumblr
  • Not having to manually copy entries.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Not many would want it, hence the opt in feature.
  • I don't know how much coding this would entail or how difficult it may be.

FB Like Button

Title
FB Like Button

Short, concise description of the idea
I'd like to use Facebook's Like button on my profile page. And for personal Facebook fan pages too.

Full description of the idea
I realize that livejournal is almost completely integrated with Facebook, but I'm unable to put a like box on my profile page. It won't accept the code.
https://developers.facebook.com/do…

An ordered list of benefits
  • 1. You can tell how many facebook users like your journal and visit often.
    2. You can also put like boxes for any fan pages you want to promote.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • 1. Might be a coding nightmare.
    2. A part of the userbase will find it intrusive and unnecessary.

Support of others micro-blogging services.

Title
Support of others micro-blogging services.

Short, concise description of the idea
Add support for all Ostatus compliant micro-blogging.

Full description of the idea
Just as you already support Twitter, support Ostatus compliant micro-blogging services. (Basically, all Status.Net based services, like: Identi.ca, Freelish.us, Mozilla.Status.Net or status.Scoffoni.net)

An ordered list of benefits
  • Allow users of these services to link and combine their micro-blogging stream on their LJ account.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Accounts micro-blogging Status.net generally can't be used for login in others websites, unlike Twitter accounts.

Import from Facebook

Title
Import from Facebook

Short, concise description of the idea
Livejournal takes your facebook status updates and posts them as journal entries

Full description of the idea
Like, LJ would ONLY import what YOU post. Not your games, not your friends, just what YOU post.

for ex:
Live journal would post only this:

-------
Cait Berry
So,
OMG. Cory's xbox, the one he got 5 days ago, DIED!!! We didnt have a
flashdrive to transfer his content, so we ran to walmart, got a flash
drive, ran back, got the content, ran back to walmart, exchanged xboxes,
came home..

played black ops, but couldnt do the map pack cuz of the update..

but HE WAS SO PISSED, lol!

Chad Wolff Jr. Austin Crider and Jay Smith - watch out for your xboxes too :(
-------

Not the comments, not any game posts, not my friends crap. JUST my status updates.

It appears they have this feature for twitter but not for facebook.

An ordered list of benefits
  • -Help cut down on the crossposting that I have to do, lol
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • -Possible spam abuse

Additions to Basic Info in User Profile

Title
Additions to Basic Info in User Profile

Short, concise description of the idea
In the user profile, 'external services' should include the option of 'Tumblr,' 'Facebook,' and 'Twitter.'

Full description of the idea
The idea is fairly simple- give more options to a Live Journal user to be able to have others connect with the other social media they utilize. The three social networking sites listed, Tumblr, Facebook and Twitter, are most used by LJ users particularly those involved in fandom.

An ordered list of benefits
  • More connectivity
  • Easier connectivity
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • I cannot think of any problems that would arise from simply listing links to other social networks.
