Optimizing your layers with pro techniques

To maximize your efficiency, you need to adopt pro-level techniques for layer management. In this section, we’ll cover techniques to optimize your use of tools such as transparency lock, clipping mask, and layer lock. By mastering these techniques, you’ll be able to create faster and with greater accuracy, ensuring that your layers work together seamlessly.

The first technique I want to cover is the use of Reference layers. When you set a layer as Reference, the Fill tool and the Selection tool can take the Reference layer into account even as you work on another layer. To make these tools consider the Reference layer, follow the next steps:

  1. Navigate to the Tool palette.
  2. Select either the Fill tool or the Selection tool.
  3. Go to the Tool property palette.
  4. Toggle on Refer multiple.
  5. Select Reference layer.
