The End of an Era! Goodbye to all! We will still be posting on Tumblr and Dreamwidth.
As you probably know, recent changes to LiveJournal make it difficult or impossible for people to see our posts unless they have a paid journal or a Russian account. We have no confidence that posting may not become even more restrictive in the future. After much discussion, we’ve decided that there isn’t much point to posting a public newsletter on what has become, essentially, a private journal. Especially since people can easily access future Sunnydale Herald newsletters on Dreamwidth and Tumblr, among other places. Therefore Monday's Herald - posted on June 1, 2026 - is the last Sunnydale Herald we will post on LiveJournal. This isn’t a decision we’ve made lightly, and it's one we've put off many times before, but... it's time.
The Sunnydale Herald began on LiveJournal (as sd_herald) in May 2004, and moved to its current LiveJournal site in September 2004. So this is truly the end of an era! We are thankful to all of the previous editors and friends of the Herald who helped create it and post it for over 22 years on this site. (We even have a fanlore page if you have history you want to add!) And we are thankful for the fans who read and reacted here on LiveJournal. Most of the fandom community has moved to other sites, but we take this time to remember our roots.
If you still post publicly available BtVS content on LiveJournal, please let us know so we can add your journal or community to our RSS feeds. (You can also drop us an ask on Tumblr or a message on Dreamwidth.) We will still link to LJ content if we know about it!
While the Herald began on LiveJournal, it doesn't end here. The Sunnydale Herald is still posted - typically daily - on Dreamwidth, Tumblr, and a link on Reddit for all your Buffy and Angel needs! We hope you’ll continue to follow us there.
