Oh my god, neck/upper spine/mid-shoulder area, whatever I did to make you hate me, I deeply and sincerely apologize. Please forgive me and end your reign of terror immediately. Ow, ow, ow, me.

Fannishly, I am all into the Avengers right now. And Sherlock, also. (Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] worldwouldend. It is separate from my RDJ/Jude Law love, and has not eclipsed it!) I spend a lot of time thinking of stories I want. Thor and Loki in Supernatural. Loki in Snow White and the Huntsman. Steve/Thor. All the team!fic at Stark Tower (there's a lot of this, and I always want more). And, of course, sex-pollen Thor/Loki (leading, naturally, to Thor mpreg).

My dad and I are watching the first season of Game of Thrones, and. I just don't like it. I knoew I wasn't going to like it, but I dislike it so much that it's making me dislike the books. I don't know.

We also watched the first episode of Leverage, which is terrible, but terrible in a way I can learn to like. We have two more GoT episodes to go, and then we can watch more Leverage. Does Parker get less irritating? I feel like that is going to be key to my enjoyment.

Parker does get less irritating! She quickly became my favourite character.

Leverage has so many things I typically love but the writing ended up killing the show for me. It's just not good, man. Not good at all.

Yay! I know that fandom loves Parker, so I was hoping she would improve.

And yeah. My expectations are looooow, so I'm hoping I can hold on for a while.

If the first season of Game of Thrones is disappointing to you, I don't know if I'd bother going on. Season two has some weird, major, and unnecessary deviations from the books. I'm hoping that the next season gets better, but I'm leery.

I'm comment jumping, sorry! But it allows me to reply to EVERYONE!

I loved Game of Thrones, so I might be biased, I apologize in advance. I started the show before I read the books, though, so maybe that was it? Although, I love the books, too, so who knows. ANYWAY, season one was way more... exciting?... than season two, so I agree with E, I'd not bother. But the changes they made were to keep certain characters in the season, because some weren't in the second book. I didn't love the changes they made regarding one character in particular, but overall I liked the season. But I was much more "omg I cannot wait for Sunday" with season one than season twoo.

Part of it might be that I read the books first, and some of the casting doesn't thrill me (even though I think most of the actors do a really good job). But mostly it just creeps me out in a way that the books don't. I DON'T KNOW WHY. What character did they change that bugged you?

That makes total sense. I went in without any preconceived notions about the characters, so I am in love with a lot of the casting. But when I read the books, I was like, wait, he's supposed to be 14, what??? Although, I understood why they aged everyone up, can you imagine seeing a 14 year old having sex and being king? There were certain things that creeped me out when I saw them way more than when I read it, the breast feeding for one. I mean. Wow. It's one thing to read it and another to watch it.

Well, Robb wasn't in book two hardly at all, but they wanted to keep his character around for season two, since he's pretty popular. So they gave him a love interest who's not the Tyrell (was that her name?) girl. Some nurse girl who's helping with the war. And they got married? I don't know, I don't see how they're going to go back to his actual storyline that should be in season three. And the Red Wedding is super important, so it needs to happen.

I think they can still go on with the red wedding plotline pretty easily, because the reason it happened is basically the same - he dissed the Freys by marrying someone else. But why change WHO he married? I just don't get it. In the end, it's a minor change but it annoys me SO MUCH, haha.

I don't even think it's that it's disappointing, on a books-to-show level, I just don't like it. Weirdly, I think I would like it more if it had been made for a network, rather than for cable. I like boobs as much as anyone, but HBO makes me feel icky about being female in a way that the books never did. Also, I call shenanigans on some of the casting.

What sort of deviations? I'm not shy about spoilers for GoT!

They completely change Jeyne Westerling - different name & now she's from Volantis. The end result will be the same, I think, but it made no sense. They do some ridiculousness with Dany's dragons - the weirdos at the House of the Undying steal them from her and she has to go get them. It was just dumb. and there are no frog people from the crag whose names I've forgotten. Completely eliminated. Some of it makes sense from a condensing standpoint, I suppose (hard for people who haven't read the books to keep all the characters straight), and I forgot completely about the frog people until my roommate mentioned it. But some of it, I'm just like...whaaaa?

I love Parker and yeah, she gets less irritating. I like the show a lot but it's not one I'm actually fannish about.

I really love the GoT books, but I'm in total agreement with you about those casting choices and HBO's gratuitous nudity/sex. Which casting choices are bugging you? Mine's Cercei.

THE AVENGERS. SHERLOCK. We share fandoms again! <3

Thor mpreg would make my life. Especially how the Avengers team would support him in their own very particular, messed up ways.
