So the pup got spayed on Wed - she is a bit moany and unsettled at the minute. She got her other hip xrayed too and although its not great its not critical so hopefully she will be ok - poor baby!
I can't believe it has been so long since I posted - bad me - I've kind of moved over to facebook for the last while.
Quick update - cats all fine - dog is fine - even though she had to have the top of her hind left leg removed a few months ago - her recovery has been spectacular and she is one big happy nuts dog! She can walk really well - infact I hiked her up a hill for an hour today with a mate who has 2 staffied and she did brilliantly.
Hope everyone is doing well and shall pop along soon to catch up on you all!
Hey everyone - how is it going? Its been so long since I updated here I feel kind of bad.
Cara (the pup) is nearly 6 months old and has had a hard time so far, she has problems with her hips (unforeseen as her parents hip scored fine) - and one of her hips was bad the vet thinks she had Perthes disease (usually in terriers not labs) and this week she just had the top of her femur removed. She has lots of lovely stitches and is limping but seems to be in good enough form. She needs re x-rayed in another 2 months as the vet is not too happy about her other hip and is looking a second opinion from a colleague, I'm hoping her other hip is ok - because she really needs it. Poor pet - I'm doing my best for her and she is such a good placid affectionate girl, but she has been through a lot in her first 6 months of life.
The cats are all doing well and my new vet has been wonderful with Storm and his urinary problem, when he is bad he gives me long lasting antiobiotics to inject Storm myself as he was getting hard to pill and the vet lets me phone him anytime I am concerned about Storm being blocked. I'm so glad I found this vet - he has been fantastic.
How is everyone doing? Today I am a nervous wreck - due to get my eyes lasered this afternoon and I am so anxious it's not funny!
Since moving house about 7 weeks ago life has been hectic. I guess adding Cara (the pup) into the mix 4 weeks ago didn't help with the madness. She is adorable but into everything - anything that she can get in her mouth is fair game and she has boundless energy. I leave her to my mums during the day like a baby and pick her up on the way home for work, so not only is my journey much increased because I now live in the middle of nowhere, but it takes extra time to deliver the baby to grannys - but she is worth it, bad but beautiful.
She is currently trashing the cats crinkle tunnel in the middle of the room - she has stolen it for her own! The cats are not too pleased about the dog and have pretty much moved upstairs and taken over the bedrooms and my lovely new bed!
I've just had the whole inside of the house painted which was a little disruptive too, it will be nice to get some quiet time - eventually.
Anyway can't complain, I love the house, love the pup - the cats are doing well and so are the goldfish as is the BF, so life is good. A little more sleep would make it even better - poopy pup doesn't believe in sleeping and likes to be up before seven every single day of the week. I can't wait to walk her to see if I can tire her out - but she still has another injection to go before I can walk her!
Hi everyone - I've been away for ages - I have moved house - successfully with 4 cats, 6 goldfish and a pleco (that was hard work), an now that I am settling into the new house I have a new addition to the family - a 6 1/2 week old chocolate labrador puppy called Cara. She is a pest - gorgeous but nuts - she is wrecking my house and then wrecking my mums house when I leave her to grannys during the day while I go to work!
I hope you are all doing well and I hope to catch up with you all very soon now that my broad band is up and running - hurrah!
So my last gerbil died on Friday - he had been ill for a while and he was on his own so I couldn't really be that sad - I shed a few tears and buried him and told him what a beautiful boy he was. No more gerbils for me - all small rodents are now out of bounds!
On a more positive note, the some of the fish eggs hatched, so I now have a few little goldfish fry swimming about - they are so bizarre, like tiny see through things with little black dots for eyes - I seem to spend ages hunting for them in the tank. I bought a new plastic tank for them so they wouldn't get eaten so I hope they survive - they are so cool!
So here is question for you - how does one move house with 4 cats? The fish are not a problem - they can be moved to my mums for a month - but how on earth do I move with 4 cats - especially if I decided to get a new house.
Thought I would post as I have a question for tallblue, I was cleaning my fish tank tonight and there were lots of little eggs all round the filter - how come this is the first time I have seen these? The fish were very frisky last night - could I get babies from these eggs? If so what do I do to make it happen? I hope you have time to give me some fishy advice!
So his lordship seems to be looking ok today - I have squeezed him to death and his bladder seems to be ok and he is not grumpy - fingers crossed it was just a passing wee wee problem - I so hope so - I have posted a picture of his royal chubbiness.
My newest baby - Babs is below (Babs as in Baby Alien Bike, I think the headlights look like Alien eyes - how sad am I)
The sun is shining and I so want to try Babs out - but I'm on call for work until 3pm at which point no doubt it shall be pouring down!
