A wingmate, also known as a wingman, referred to a starfighter pilot who flew with another pilot in a squadron. Even the leader of a starfighter squadron flew with a wingman.[1]
In 22 BBY, Senator Padmé Amidala flew as a wingmate to Porro Dolphe in an entourage of N-1 starfighters while her handmaiden Cordé posed as her aboard her J-type diplomatic barge, as she received threats of an attempt on her life.[2][3]
Prior to the Battle of Scarif, rebel pilot Ralo Surrel flew as the wingmate to Red Leader Garven Dreis.[4]
