Velkers were a predatory species native to the gas giant Bespin. They traveled in flocks and preyed upon the giant floating beldons that inhabited the planets lower atmosphere, feasting on the creatures buoyant flesh which attracted carrion-eating crab gliders.[1] During the Iron Blockade of the Anoat sector, Nogba Quush hired the Smuggler to eliminate a few of Bespin's Imperial patrols, saying the population would blame the velkers.[2]
Behind the scenes
Velkers were created for Galaxy Guide 2: Yavin and Bespin, a reference book written by Jonatha Ariadne Caspian and released in 1989 by West End Games. The species was confirmed to be canon by the reference book Ultimate Star Wars, which was released in 2015.
