A mantis was a lifeform that did not possess a stinger. It shared its name with the S-161 "Stinger" XL luxury yacht Stinger Mantis owned by Greez Dritus, which he named such because he liked the image it provoked.[1] The insectoid Yam'rii species[2] were praying mantis-like.[3]
