Ibaar was a mountainous,[5] rocky, and temperate planet[6] located in the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories[1] that fell under Imperial control in the years prior to the Battle of Yavin. The Empire created a blockade around the planet that cut off vital supplies from the Ibaarian people. An underground network of Ibaarians was assisted by the Rebellion which delivered the needed supplies to Ibaar.[5] Despite this, Ibaar continued to suffer under Imperial sanctions well into the Galactic Civil War due to its suspected Rebel sympathies.[1]
According to First Order propaganda holos, Ibaar had undergone famine in the time following the Galactic Civil War while it was under New Republic control.[7]
