A gladiator was any being trained to fight with weapons against other sentients, droids, or wild creatures in an arena for public entertainment. Gladiators could be individuals like Kreel, who was forced to become a gladiator in the fighting pits of Chagar IX,[5] or the Wookiee Krrsantan, who was trained by the Xonti Brothers, who ran a gladiatorial enterprise.[6] There were also gladiator droids such as K0-5D.[7] Known gladiatorial competitions included the Stormblade Bloodfest, the Outer Rim Carve-up, Arena Day, and the Gladiator Night of Lothal.[3] When Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker faced trial on Geonosis, Poggle the Lesser sentenced them to die while fighting in the Petranaki arena.[1]
