- "He moved so fast… Where did he go?"
- ―Kolara, on Obi-Wan Kenobi
Force Dash,[3] also known as Force Speed,[6] or speed burst was an ability of the Force that allowed its user to increase their speed for a brief time.[1] The increased speed of the Force-user enabled the individual to perceive and react to the world and the entities around them in slow motion, allowing them to dodge attacks easily and attack more quickly with greater accuracy.[4][7] While powerful in short bursts, overexertion of the ability could quickly drain the Force-user of their energy for a brief period of time.[2] With sufficient skill in Force Dash, users were able to run on vertical surfaces for brief periods of time, an ability used by Jedi such as Cal Kestis[4] and Jocasta Nu.[8]
While aboard the Trade Federation starship Saak'ak, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi used Force Dash to escape from droidekas.[1] Kenobi could also use Force Speed to increase his reaction time, an ability he used to quickly assess a situation and briefly escape capture while undergoing business on Cato Neimoidia.[2] Darth Sidious, a Dark Lord of the Sith, was also capable of utilizing Force Dash.[3] The Second Sister could move to greater speeds, and she was able to dodge incoming blaster bolts.[4] Luke Skywalker utilized Force Speed during his training on Dagobah,[9] and later to slice through Boba Fett’s blaster carbine with his lightsaber.[10]
