- I'm a big ol' dork. I'm not math or computer-oriented enough to be truly be a nerd, but I still occassionally play Dungeons & Dragons, watch anime, read comic books, and know far, far too much random trivial information about Star Trek. I go to Dragon*Con every year. I go the Renaissance Festival almost every year, and have been known to dress up in garb. I = dork. - I read. Muchly. I'm not quite the reader I was ten years ago, but I still consume books at a decent pace. On occassion I enjoy poetry. Favorite authors include Robert Jordan, Umberto Eco, Victor Hugo, Joseph Ellis, Douglas Adams, H.P. Lovecraft, Robert Heinlein, C.S. Lewis, Dorothy Allison, Adrienne Rich, Mary Hood, J.R.R. Tolkien, Robert Aspirin, Elaine Pagels, Terry Brooks, Naomi Novik, Stephanie Meyer, and John Lewis Gaddis. To name a few.
Mr. Koreander: Your books are safe. While you're reading them, you get to become Tarzan or Robinson Crusoe. Bastian: But that's what I like about them. Mr. Koreander: Ahh, but afterwards you get to be a little boy again. Bastian: What do you mean? Mr. Koreander: Have you ever been Captain Nemo, trapped inside your submarine while the giant squid was attacking you? Bastian: Yes. Mr. Koreander: Weren't you afraid you couldn't escape? Bastian: But it's only a story. Mr. Koreander: That's what I'm talking about. The ones you read are safe. Bastian: And that one isn't? ~The Neverending Story
-My music interests are all over the place. In the car I'm more likely to be listening to the R&B/rap top 40 than anything else, if the radio is on. If I have my PMP in the car, it's most likely to be The Jennifer Nettles Band, Sean Paul, The Lost Boys, Sugarland, VAST, or whichever group/artist has recently caught my attention. This changes from week to week. Such is life. My favorite musical piece of all time is Handel's Messiah. I find it incredibly moving.
