Obsessed with the idea of Flambae matching with a cute guy on this new app Prism puts him on. Apparently, it's heroes only. Of course he can't pass that up.

Profile picture? None. Username? Vague. Does he make Flambae laugh? A lot, yeah. And yeah, okay, maybe he gets roasted for 10 minutes and finds it strangely attractive.

They arrange a date at Crypto, and he's so excited to go. Who's there waiting for him, equally as shocked?

Mecha Man.

“I SHARED MY DEEP-ROOTED INSECURITIES ABOUT TREES WITH YOU!”

“And they actually make sense,” Mecha Man says, aggressively rubbing away at the impending migraine forming in his temple. “So what does that say about me.”

“Ugh. Whatever. I didn't leave this hair mask on for 2 hours just to leave. Sit down. We’re gonna talk about Love is Blind again. I need your take on Nick and Ashley.”

It's the best date he's ever been on.

“It’s digestible” has got to be the laziest goal I’ve ever seen achieved by a food product.

“It’s digestible”

rhea314

“It’s digestible” is pertinent!! Okay, for those of you who haven’t researched Crisco for writing fic about gay sex in the mid-late 60s:

The first-edition of The Joy of Gay Sex, published in 1977, declared, “Vegetable shortening may be the best lubricant, since it is not only greasy but also digestible”[4] Such a statement perhaps gives new meaning to the companies boastful declarations that “Its digestible” and “Crisco has been making life in the kitchen more delicious for years.”  Similarly, in the 1978 sex manual The Advocate Guide to Gay Health, Crisco even earned an entry in the book’s index.  Discussions of the shortening’s use as an anal lubricant indicate its popularity, with statements such as: “The lubricant, typically the cultic Crisco, must be copious.”[5]  In fact, Crisco was so synonomus with gay sex that discos and bars around the world took on the name, such as Crisco Disco in New York City, which was one of the premiere clubs during the 1970s and early 1980s.  Other clubs or bathhouses, such as Club Z in Seattle, even featured murals with Crisco.  Thus, Crisco was conversely also one of many things that led to the formation of gay identities during the 20th century.

I have learned a new thing today.

Love this post for so many reasons but most especially because this is from all the way back in 2012 and and yet not a single blog in this thread is deactivated

nianeyna

I enjoy that not only does this have a link to an actual source, but the link still fucking works.

Love the gay history, but i just wanna correct that the “it’s digestible” in the gay stuff was a reference to crisco’s tagline it had been using since 1911, the actual meaning of its digestible is because it’s main competition came from “enhanced” lards which were rendered pig fat mixed with non food thickeners that literally did not digest and caused people to basically just shit out pig cream, since crisco was veggie based the body digested it along with the food

And in case you were still wondering, @mudwerks.. Tuna Croquettes

This post is the opposite of net zero information. Not only did I learn several new facts about gay history but also we rounded our way back to the original question of the tag line and the mini obelisks.

It’s a net profit of information. 12/10 post

Physical Therapy for when walking and standing hurts

this is my reminder to me about what helped after a month+ of work, but if this could help others who have the same weakness as me, i'd be glad

note: these build up muscles (my thighs were particularly weak) so initially i got new aches. they're numbered by weeks assigned but stack, so by week 3 i did all these exercises twice a day. now that pain is just soreness -> once every other day for maintenance

total of six exercises labelled into three sections: 1, Heel Raises with Counter Support. Back photo of a person's legs in front of a cabinet, the shoe heels lifted up while forefoot stays on the ground. 1, Gastroc Stretch on Wall. Side photo of a person with both hands on a wall, back a slanted straight line from shoulders to back set heel, with leg in front slightly bent at the knee. 1, Seated Plantar Fascia Mobilization with Small Ball. Side photo of feet with background flat on ground and foreground on top of a ball. 2, Supine Bridge. Side photo of a person laying on their back with feet planted so that when hip is raised, there's a straight line between upper back and 90° angle knee. Hands are laid flat on the side. 2, Clamshell with Resistance. Front photo of a person laying on their side, one arm holding a pillow under the head and the other relaxed in front. There's a band just above the knees, stretched as the knees are held apart but feet are still touching together. 3, Sidelying Open Book Thoracic and Extension. Front photo of a person laying on their side with both hands extended in front (not viewed is the person extending upper arm up and over to the other side, torso slightly twisted but hips mostly in same place); this version has the upper leg bent up so knee is resting in front of the person's hip.ALT

week 1. strengthen feet/calves

  • 10 reps twice of raising heels to point of stretch, not hurt (i have high mobility in my ankles and the pain focuses at the front, so 70% of the way up at first)
  • 30 second hold (3 times each leg) of gastroc stretch: push down on the heel and bend forward knee to feel stretch in back-leg's calf back
  • 2 minutes (each) rolling a tennis ball along the arch of my foot

week 2. strengthen thighs/hips (can have resistance band around thighs just above knees on all stretches here)

  • 10 reps twice supine bridge, engaging butt muscles for lift
  • 10 reps twice each side clamshell, feeling resistance bands on thighs (use a pillow. put hand on hip to find point hips may turn and stop leg raise there; you want to feel it in butt, not back, muscles)

week 3. relieve upper back pain

  • 20 reps of open book, from on side: hands clapped together, bring upper arm up onto the other side, following the movement with head and feel stretch in upper back (modified to keep knees together and reminder to use pillow to avoid neck pain)

other things that helped: switching to shoes with more cushion (tho now i can return to my regular dress shoes), hand massaging feet with moisturizer focusing on tight spots, "toe yoga" (raise the big toe alone, then switch to raise the small toes alone; engage arch and don't press down hard), and adjusting how i walk to engage worked muscles (hips more forward to be under my lower back, rather than popped, and rest back on heels when i remember)
