"it's illegal to write xyz in fanfics" no. it literally is not. otherwise ao3 would have been shut down a very long time ago. everything ao3 allows is legal in america.

the fact ao3 can exist today is because they never break any laws by allowing these fics you don't like on their platform.

now are some of these things disgusting/offensive/messed up/triggering? yes. but just because you and I are disgusted or upset or triggered by them doesn't mean they're suddenly illegal like you claim they are.

am I disgusted by some of these things? yes. but guess what, I don't go looking for things that upset and disgust me. they're not even on my mind because I don't like them so I just don't waste my time thinking about them or going out of my way to search for them just to get upset.

if something disgusts, upsets or triggers you and you go out of your way to search for them, then I fear it's a you problem when nobody forces you to search for things that you hate just for you to be upset by them.
