(Sparda/)Eva abbreviated ship manifesto and info dump
I was looking at old posts, and I amazed to see that while I'd posted the second novel information here, I hadn't reposted any of the evidence for the sheer win of the pairing from previous games/sources. This must be amended. I thought of this while typing up the below rant and I came her looking for the links to places these quotes were that really should have been here.
What's interesting is that while Eva's Theme is of course associated with Trish, the Sound DVD track for it is all about Vergil: it's his character track like Lady has a character track as well as a boss battle track in the DMC3 DVD.
Eva's theme, translated out of poetry into semi-normal language, is her saying this: "I managed to keep them safe and loved enough that they were happy and hopeful for the future. Then the world intruded, I got killed, and they were alone, helpless, and surrounded by hatred and darkness. They were helpless little kids but they didn't let it destroy them and they didn't give in to despair. Now they've finally found each other and they have hope again: they've survived all this. While it's nowhere near over for them and things look grim this is the darkness before the dawn. I know they'll be fine now, and I'm so proud of them it breaks my heart."
You see? This is why I was unable to resist this character. She rocks so very, very hard, and when I came in there was nothing I considered good enough and a lot of stuff that portrayed her as weak in so very many ways despite the fact that she's easily the strongest character in the series. Not in terms of firepower, sure, but in VJ, which Kamiya did partly to get across his original ideas by mocking them after the mockery that DMC2 made of them, Mundus considers her his most dangerous enemy!
VJ - Mundus: (to Trish) No, you are mistaken. In that amulet resides the soul of a human. The one who gave birth to Sparda’s son... The one who protected that son’s life, who protected YOUR life... That detestable woman... Eva’s soul! The real enemy was you, Eva! This amulet was used to resurrect the child Dante. I shall destroy it, and you with it!
She is why the entire series happens, both the modern events as herself and why Sparda rebelled in the first place as a symbol.
DMC1 Sound DVD Sacred Heart - It was then that Dante first realized something. Why did his father who was evil decide to protect the world of man? Why did he decide to stand up alone against all the dark forces? Seeing the form of Trish who had protected him just as his mother had and who had her same looks, Dante finally understood.
Here's a post I did with in-game references to Eva in DMC1 & DMC3, with screencaps:

And there's more stuff floating around. I'll start adding where to find stuff like this to the userinfo, so it's easier for you to find things to use in fics/fangirl over. I really need to just write a ship manifesto and have everything in one place...
