solo: Akame reading the same book (Akame reading)
[personal profile] solo
Twitter is bad for blogging. It's like every single tiny bit of anything I might ever have to say gets nibbled away in 140-character crumbs and then there's nothing left. For weeks.

Except right now there are a few things after all.

1) We're off to Germany again on the 22nd. I'm kind of trying to make up for the fact that we'll probably not go again for Xmas, ever (long story). So I'm jumping on any cheap flight that I can get, and this one was £12 per person, so...

Anyway, it's really very brief; A. is leaving again on the 25th, I'm hanging on till the 27th. And then I'm straight back into grading. And when that's done I can start looking forward to the third weekend in May when [livejournal.com profile] k_julia, [livejournal.com profile] becroberts, [livejournal.com profile] ina, [livejournal.com profile] mananeh and I are going to have us a little party. :-)

2) We actually had some warm days recently. Warm in the sense of 'Solo throws caution to the winds and moves operations into the garden'. And of course Yami was delighted and spent all that time outside with me, chasing butterflies and getting teased by crows twice her size.

The workstation of the busy pornographer, with cat:

3) [livejournal.com profile] k_julia and I have committed a TheraPWP. There we were, harmlessly discussing the summer tour and the L.A. concerts and surrounding issues, and... it just happened, okay? It is here: Lift me to the sky, 7,000 words, rated PORN.

4) The [livejournal.com profile] kizuna_exchange is almost finished, and as somebody who's never taken part in a fic exchange before, I've found the experience very interesting. Also, the big percentage of AUs really came as a surprise to me, as to several others. And like everybody else, I'm still catching up with the reading, but I've already found a few stories I know I'll read over and over again. The one written for us is one of those. I might do some recs once the reveal is up and reccing won't compromise our anonymity. (Only I suck at recs, so maybe not...)

5) And now I should really spend a couple of more-or-less productive hours with the YamaNade 7 subs.

State of the Collaboration, 33: "japanese teenage boy toy 2008" is not a useful google search term when you actually want to know about popular toys for boys.

*Nods in full agreement re: Twitter* it is indeed bad for blogging.

I hope all goes well in Germany and for your 'party' thereafter.

Wow, it was that warm with you? I bet Yami really was one very happy kitty.

She's gorgeous. *Pets her*

It was REALLY NICE for two days and kind of nice for a third. And then of course it got all horrible again and I was seeing your tweets about the lovely horrible weather and was all sadface. :-/

Twitter is of the devil. I have little enough to say as it is, and after a night on Twitter half the people who read my LJ know about it all anyway, so I'll just feel like I'm repeating myself, which is something I hate.

Yami purrs at you.

Sorry :-( That's how I feel when people are happy about hot and sunny weather. I really think we should all have out own little temperature control, so that we could keep ourselves at whatever temperature is right for us, no matter what is going on outside *Nods*

It is. It really is. I know what you mean about not wanting to repeat. I ship mine to my LJ, all behind a cut so that anyone who isn't on Twitter and might like to know I'm a) alive b) um . . . can do so.

She's a real poppet.

Yeah, I saw yours being shipped to LJ and actually followed that link and got mine set up to be shipped to DW. Really just to have my own personal record of the idiocies I come out with. I didn't want them on LJ because I don't think one-sided snippets of my conversations with random people are going to be of much interest to anybody who reads me here (and fewer people read me on DW. *g*)

Do you also find that sometimes loudtwitter cuts lines off weirdly? It really bugs my OCDness, I keep wanting to check everything they ship to get rid of random spaces and paragraph breaks so it all looks tidy, even if nobody ever looks at it.

Ah, I see. It is a good way to keep on eye on the daftness of one's self *g* The one-sided conversations can be very amusing and confusing at times *g*

Yes, they do - it's very strange. And I know what you mean!

i LOVED kizuna_exchange. tho i didn't participate......lol it's great so many talented writers did tho. So sad it's done now...... I was srsly obsessively refreshing it every day

I loved all the AUs...... I actually can't read ones that are too similar to RL...... so i wanted even more AUs xDDD

I like a good AU, and quite a few in the exchange have really impressed me. But my favourite stories tend to be ones that are based on RL and give it a particular interpretation or add stuff or fix stuff. I don't know if you read the story Julia and I ([livejournal.com profile] haikuesque got... it's a lovely story and exactly the kind of thing I like.

yeah..... there are some I'm DEF re-reading again....DEF!

not to sound like a hater..... but i just don't like RL based ones since a) i don't believe they're actually together, b) my interpretation of events are different from others, and c) I've already spent wayyyy too long thinking about what this or that means that i'm sorta immune to their situation now. OK..... so my reason is pretty much just one.....lol

Yeah... well, each to their own. If the same kind of thing worked the same way for everybody, it would be boring. :-)

I'm happy for you that you got so much delicious AU out of the exchange then.

YAY GERMANY AND ADORABLE CAT. There were a lot of AU's!!! It was interesting to see how many there were. XDD Anonymity = opportunity for strange crack ideas to become masterpieces?! XD

OOH FIC YAY. AMAZED THAT YOU FINISHED KIZUNA AND STILL HAVE ENERGY FOR MORE.

You think people might not have written so many AUs if it hadn't been anonymous?

Fic was necessary. :-) It didn't turn out quite like our original concept, but we had to do *something* or other for our own peace of mind, so, well, there it is.

Boy toy was me being an idiot. I should have known, only I was so frazzled at the time I just input without thinking. :-)

We will not get into how addictive Twitter can be. I have five days of tweets to catch up on and just the thought of it is draining my will to live.

Why will you never be going back for Christmas again, if you don't mind my asking? (Or if you do mind, feel free to tell me so.) I hope the skies are clear by the time you fly!

I really like that first pic of Yami, for some reason. She looks totally unimpressed. What, was your fic not steamy enough for her or something?

The Christmas thing is... not very dramatic, really, just a question of additional travel once we're in Germany, and logistics, and extra expense, and stress at a time when we both tend to be worn down from three months of unrelenting stress anyway. (New academic year... always bad.) I'll tell you the details when you're here. :-)

I will need to ask Yami about our fic. 'Hello, my name is Solo and I get fic feedback from my cat.'

Hmm.

Twitter IS bad for blogging. I feel like I've been neglecting LJ :<.

Yay Germany! And D:! about not being able to go ever again for Xmas :/ ...but that weekend in May sounds like it's going to be fantastic ^^!

Love the almost bored expression Yami has in the 1st pic, and akjhfds she looks so cute in the 2nd! Actually she just looks extra fluffy and less like a powerful!magicCat in this pic batch :D

TheraPWP ftw! Fics by you two = &hearts ♥ ♥. Also, I'd say I was surprised by the amounts of AU too except...I've...barely read anything >___>. Still, I prefer RL based fics, even though AUs can be really gorgeous.

XDDD boy toy, it's okay I made a similar mistake once. I tried googling Love Yourself making of back when it wasn't readily available and...er...was presented with rather shady results >__>...

I totally agree about Twitter! What else is there to post about when it already exists as tweets!

Have fun in Germany :D

Also, you and [livejournal.com profile] k_julia are writing machines. *_*

k_x was my first fic exchange too. Really fun experience... and so much fics to read!

Not sure at this point whether we'll even *get* to Germany. Volcanoes... I guess we'll see.

Actually, the funnest part of the exchange is watching everybody guess. :-)
