December Challenge: Lily--High Expectations?

Just managed to finish this at almost the last minute! Nothing too profound; just my impressions of Lily in Deathly Hallows, which to be quite frank, were rather disappointing.

The problem that I have with Lily lies not so much in her character per se, but in expectations I had that were perhaps unrealistically high. However, I believe that these expectations did have a basis in canon. We never hear anyone say an ill word against her, not even Snape. (Which in hindsight should have led me to realize that their relationship was in some way significant, but maybe I was blinded to the potential Snily ship by my love for Snupin.)

December Challenge: Lily and Severus

As with the November Challenge, I am posting  "creative-meta" as my response to this topic, but I hope that this ficlet  (and I use the term very loosely) inspires some discussion. I find that my thoughts on the Lily/ Severus dynamic are rather complicated and my perceptions often shift.  Hence this method of expressing them. I hope it comes across as being somewhat coherent! The title is from Sonnet CI by William Shakespeare.
