Are you fed-up with garbage, full-of-shit sites where nobody actually communicates, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter? Do you wish your old friends who've migrated to those sites would return to LiveJournal? The the_lj_revival community has been set up with that aim in mind, and you are invited to join it. If you are already on LiveJournal and still have a Facebook profile, and would like to see more people returning to LJ or setting up accounts here, we invite you to post a link to this community on your Facebook Timeline. If you would like to find out who is still using LiveJournal and make contact with those who are already here, you are invited to copy and paste the 'about me' questions on the profile page and post them with your answers to the community.

Slavehood

I've been thinking a lot about this community in general (when I should be doing homework or reading) and it's time to make the first post and give some information about the community (will be updating the profile page as well).

I chose the name slavehood for this community because of Erotic Slavehood: A Miss Abernathy Omnibus by Christina Abernathy. This is the combination of the Miss Abernathy books Miss Abernathy's Concise Slave Training Manual and also Training with Miss Abernathy: A Workbook for Erotic Slaves and Their Owners. I love this book, as does my Master, and I believe it has some wonderful ideas and definitions in it. I had not used or heard the word slavehood before when referring to bdsm and slaves in bdsm, but I enjoy it a lot, especially for the reasons she states for using it as well. I believe it fits much better than "slavery"

"The distinction between BDSM and barbarism can be summed up in one word: consent. To avoid confusion, I reserve the term "slavery" for the sort of violence visited on African-Americans, among others, in the seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth centuries. When speaking of consensual erotic submission, I use the term "slavehood." I prefer the word "slavehood," because it expresses a personal vocation rather than a social institution."
from Erotic Slavehood: A Miss Abernathy Omnibus by Christina Abernathy.

This community is dedicated to people of all types who have some sort of personal connection to slavehood, you may identify as a slave, be a slave to someone, own a slave, want a slave, be curious about slavehood, or anything else.

Slavehood as a concept is highly subjective, and our working definition isn't the only definition that there is or could be of 'slavehood' as a term, nor is it meant to encompass all that slavehood is, but it is a jumping off point, and a base definition, with the ability to have additional definitions and dimensions added to it.

Our working definition of slavehood is one which encompasses and expands on the quote of Miss Abernathy's which began this community. Slavehood involves trust, consent/personal vocation, and egalitarianism. Trust is necessary in order to have consent and to build a relationship of any type, but especially a M/s relationship. The roles of both Owner and slave are equally valued, as they are both extremely important and one cannot exist or thrive without the other. Of course, in a M/s relationship, there is inequality which occurs, however, this inequality is between the parties involved, and has to do with the role which each person inhabits as opposed to anything inherent or natural, though, these roles may feel natural within the person but the inequality is not able to be generalized to a greater population. Neither Owner or slave are inherently unequal to each other, but all inequality within the relationship is a result of consent/personal vocation.

Everyone will be encouraged to post, unless there is some sort of negative comments or unacceptable contents to posts. This is meant to be a place of acceptance, support, and the coming together of minds to encourage, question, and grow.

This community will be friends only, so that the personal things expressed here will stay within the community.

The usual rules apply, of course: no drama, no flaming, no racist/sexist/homophobic/transphobic/etc. remarks, RESPECT is key, etc.
