Dear FFFX Author,

First of all, thank you so much for committing to writing/drawing for me! I'm looking forward to my gift, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it. Please look at my prompts as inspiration, not strict rules.

Since this is an exchange for very long works, some stuff about plots: canon-divergence AUs are one of my favorite genres in pretty much all of my fandoms - I really love 'for want of a nail' style divergence, as well as more complicated alternate possibilities. I also generally enjoy casefic, plots that revolve around complicated interpersonal relationships (whether familial, romantic or otherwise platonic), backstory or post-canon works, and, if you feel inspired to write a ton of smut, elaborate BDSM scenes.

Some things I generally like: Affectionate bonds between characters; complicated relationships with messy feelings; lgbt characters; food porn; history fic; clothing porn (especially in art!) plotty fic; bdsm; canon-divergence AUs; competence kink; casefic; power dynamics; conflicts of loyalty and/or honor; femslash; espionage and spycraft



Stuff I like in smut: BDSM, bondage, blindfolds, bloodplay and painplay, strap ons, complicated feelings or dynamics, anything I've written or bookmarked on AO3.

My general DNWs: body fluids other than gore described (eg. vomit), modern/mundane AUs; some fandom-specific stuff below.

Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter - Laurell K Hamilton
Anita, Edward, Anita & Edward

DNW: shipfic revolving around Anita and Richard or Jean-Claude (mentions are fine; ignoring them is also fine); extensive involvement of Donna (mentions or brief appearances are fine)

I really enjoy Anita and Edward's screwy friendship early on in the series, as well as the way they gradually become closer as time goes on. I am also one of the fans who does not love later developments in the series or, tbh, most of LKH's romances, so feel free to ignore them, write early series fic/comic or write an AU where they didn't happen. I enjoy Anita and Edward written as super competent people with super fucked up emotional/personal lives, and the way they feel like they're the only ones who understand each other. Anita's necromancy is also extremely cool, and I find Edward's issues with his own identity much more interesting than many straightforward "sociopath" characters. If he has trouble separating himself from his roles, it's probably happened before with other identities.

Some ideas: an alternate casefic for the favor Anita owed Edward might be interesting, or fic/comic about their first meeting pre-canon. (I recently did the timeline and realized that Anita was probably like, still in college or just out when they met, which has some interesting implications.) I don't require you to interpret Jean-Claude as abusive, but if you are one of the fans who would like her asking Edward for help leaving, please feel free to write that fic/comic for me, LOL.

I also find some of Anita's abandoned goals interesting - what if she had become a preternatural biologist like she wanted to in college, for example? You could write that fic/comic revolving just around Anita, or as fic/comic for them both. Fic/comic about Edward's background and how he got to the place he is early series would also be really interesting!

Dragonriders of Pern
Menolly, Menolly/Mirrim, Menolly & Mirrim, Lessa, Worldbuilding

Menolly, Mirrim and Lessa are all among my favorites in this canon. I also find Pern's worldbuilding fascinating, fucked up bits and all. I'd be happy to read either friendship or shipfic for Mirrim and Menolly, or worldbuilding fic focusing on honestly almost any aspect of Pernese society, but some areas I'm particularly interested in are weyrlife during other Passes and the way relationships and parenting work in the Weyr, the individual cultures of Crafts we don't see as much in canon, and the transition from the society we see at Landing into the feudal setup we see in the ninth pass.

Some character-specific prompts: I remain really interested in the idea of fic/comic where Menolly is Searched before running away, or where she stays at Benden Weyr and Impresses instead of going on to the Harper Hall; it might also be interesting to see fic/comic where Petiron gets her there earlier and she meets Mirrim under totally different circumstances (or just has an entirely different set of struggles as Petiron's female apprentice with a living Petiron around aggravating people). I'd love to see fic/comic about her and Alemi meeting again, too. For Lessa, I'd be really interested in fic/comic about her staying at Ruatha, or maybe about things going differently in her early time at Benden - maybe where she's less obedient to R'gul or forms relationships with other weyrfolk besides F'lar and F'nor and Manora, or where she ends up with a different Weyrleader. Post-Pass fic/comic about Lessa might also be interesting - what does she do when she can make choices for herself?

Fledgling - Octavia Butler
Shori, Shori/Theodora, Shori & Celia & Brook & Joel & Wright

I love how messed up the Ina/symbiont relationships are, and the information we get about people forming relationships anyway. Memory manipulation or loss is also a favorite trope of mine, so Shori is my catnip on multiple levels as a reader. I'd love to see fic/comic about her and how she handles growing up with partial memories, and how she is or isn't different from other Ina because of it. Theodora is also a favorite of mine, so fic/comic about her living would be great, hah. I'd also be interested in continuation fic/comic as a sort of taste of the series that would meant to be about Shori and all of her symbionts once the trial is over and they've got to build a life for themselves.

Harry Potter
Lily, Lily & Harry, Sirius/Bellatrix, Sirius & Bellatrix, Sirius & Harry, Sirius/Remus, Remus

DNW: therapy or formal psychiatric treatment so much as mentioned; insanity/mental illness equated with evil or Death Eater views; James/Lily shipfic (mentions are fine, brief appearances are fine)

Harry Potter is currently my most active fandom, so you can take a look at my tumblr or AO3 if you happen to be interested in my current thoughts, although it's not required. I do want to request that you use book continuity/characterization, especially for Sirius, who I view as pretty different in the books vs. the films. Please also don't feel bound by Pottermore or other extracanon. I'm going to break this one up a bit by character groups:

Lily is pretty blank for the early series, but in books six and seven we get more specific images of a brilliant, sarcastic young woman who was compatible in personality with Snape as a child and still extremely outspoken. I'd love to see fic/comic about her time in school or during the war, maybe an AU where she lives. If you write fic/comic about her and Harry, I'd be interested in either an AU where she lives or one where she's resurrected (maybe for plot reasons, or reasons to do with the wards?) and has to deal with the Marian image of her wizarding society has formed at the same time as she has to form a relationship with her abused teenage son.

Sirius is absolutely a favorite of mine in this canon. If you write fic/comic about Sirius and Harry, I'd love to see fic/comic where Sirius is cleared, whether early in the series or after surviving the war; fic/comic about him having custody of Harry or about their relationship as Harry as an adult would be really interesting. I'd be happy for Sirius/Remus fic/comic during either war, or post-canon with them both living. For Remus-centric fic/comic, some worldbuilding/elaboration on werewolf society might be really cool to see, whether with Remus as a spy or between the wars when we don't know much about what he was doing - as would fic/comic about him developing or using the skills he teaches in Defense.

For Sirius & Bellatrix or Sirius/Bellatrix, I like the Black cousins as screwed up but genuinely affectionate even when they're trying to kill each other. I have an extensive essay on AO3 about canon Bellatrix if you're interested in reading my thoughts, but the tl;dr is please give her a normal range of emotions if you're featuring her. I'd be happy for fic/comic about their fraught relationship during the first war - platonic or not - or as children/teenagers, or maybe about them communicating during the second war, or even in Azkaban together. A Bellatrix redemption AU might be interesting if you think you can pull it off, or an AU where Voldemort doesn't exist or his political cause/the political landscape in general is different. Fic/comic where Bellatrix resurrects Sirius after killing him by accident might also be interesting - whether during the war, or after a victory by one side or the other.

The Twisted Ones - T. Kingfisher
Mouse, Mouse/Anna

DNW: mercy killing (mentioning Anna's canon death is fine, just please don't focus on it in this framework)

Post-series fic/comic would be interesting to me for this fandom, especially in an AU where Anna survived and has to figure out how to live in the world again after all of that. Fic/comic where Mouse gets stuck alongside her and they maybe have to escape later would also be interesting, provided you can prevent Mouse being used for parts somehow. Alternatively, an AU where Anna communicates with Mouse earlier and Mouse forms an actual plan - with or without suspicions Anna's trying to trap her - might be cool, or an AU where Cotgrave manages to help Anna earlier on and she returns when Mouse comes to the house. I'd also be interested in fic/comic about Mouse as a child maybe having some weird experiences she later forgot about in the woods, or where she returns under other circumstances, or runs across the stones later in another place.

The Old Guard (2020)
Andy, Andy/Nile, Nicky/Joe

I watched this movie recently and fell in love! I'd love to read backstory fic/comic for Andy or Nicky and Joe, or post-canon fic/comic where Nile and Andy are together (Andy can be immortal again or not as you prefer). Basically anything would be great - history fic, casefic, history casefic, smut... Maybe fic/comic where Andy teaches Nile to ride horseback? Nicky and Joe dealing with a case/mission by themselves, maybe before they met Andy and Quynh or while the rest of the team is otherwise occupied?

KOTOR
Female Revan, Revan, Revan/Canderous, Female Revan/Malak, Female Revan/Bastila

DNW: the mindwipe as unproblematic good

Memory manipulation is a favorite trope of mine, and I have a thing for female military characters with screwed up pasts, too, so female!Revan is a favorite of mine. I also really enjoy gender ambiguity and if you'd be interested in writing Revan as trans/androgynous/etc that would be cool, too! I'm interested in works revolving around how identity relates to memory and social environment, whether Revan remembers everything, some things, or nothing and regardless of what relationships they have with others. Please don't feel bound by KOTOR 2 or comics canon - it's all Legends anyway and I'm not super familiar with either.

Backstory fic/comic about Revan and Malak would be interesting - I like my relationships affectionate and screwed up at the same time, and I'd love to read fic/comic where Malak's decision to kill Revan is agonized and he feels like he has to, or fic/comic about them as Jedi, or as Sith before everything goes wrong. I'd be interested in fic/comic about Revan and Bastila with an AU where Bastila accompanied Revan, or perhaps they knew each other before Revan turned, or alternatively fic/comic that goes AU mid-game or post-game. Revan and Canderous have always struck me as a good match in outlook, especially when Revan remembers everything or some things. I'm much more interested in fic/comic that goes outside the bounds of the usual walk through sequence and ending in this fandom.

Sunshine - Robin McKinley
Constantine/Rae

The worldbuilding in this fandom is so fascinating and there are so many tantalizing glimpses. I'd love to see a work exploring more of vampire society, or the effects on society of the wars, or Rae's mysterious abilities and family past. Her and Constantine struggling to figure out how to relate to each other now that the crisis of the book is passed would also be fascinating to me.
