So we are retiring our bird feeders until winter is well underway. I should say our bird feeder since the finch feeder has a 6in x 2in jagged whole in along with a couple of random teeth marks in it. I guess we can be added to the list of people around town who have had their bird feeders destroyed by bears. I know that yesterday as I was driving into the garage I noticed that the feeder was under half full so I guess the bear visited last night.
Saw Up with Emma last night and we both really enjoyed it! I will say that parents who have kids that can scare easily or get sad easily might want to pre-screen the movie, there are a couple of touchy places.
Anyone have a 2.5" USB 2.0 or Firewire drive enclosure that I can borrow? I need to retrieve some data from my dead laptop hard drive and don't want to pay ~$30 if I don't have to. :)
Finally I have in my possession my Grandmother's Singer sewing machine. I have been trying to get this thing forever! It is so pretty and maybe, just maybe I will now learn to sew.
As an FYI where I work now has Gluten Free offerings. I know that some friends need to avoid gluten so I wanted to let people know. I work at Stone Hearth Pizza, Co. There are currently 3 locations - Belmont Center, Porter Square and Needham. We have rice flour pizza crusts and most of our toppings are not made with any gluten products. We also have added rice pasta and all our homemade salad dressings have always been gluten free.
Let me know if you have any questions. Not exactly trying to promote where I work but I know that some people find eating out very difficult.
Snippets from HP email support - "you seem to be experiencing a known issue" "covered under extended warranty for known issue" "qualify for free mail-in repair"
Big sigh. So I will basically be without the laptop for anywhere from 2-4 weeks but it is covered and will be fixed when it gets shipped back to me! Of course there is a chance that they will wipe my hard drive (unlikely since there is no issue with that) but I do not have to buy a new computer.
As if there wasn't enough suck this year. My laptop's motherboard is DEAD! The thing is only 1.5 years old so I am more than a little annoyed. Checking with compac to see if I have a chance in hell with the warranty or if it was only for a year. Q was quoted $500 to fix it from the Geek Squad or gee we could get a brand new one for around that as well. I didn't even pay $500 for the thing brand new!
Grrr... not the news we were hoping for with the laptop.
On another note anyone have tips of getting data off the hard drive of the laptop? I don't have a ton of stuff there since my digital camera never played nice with Vista so those are on a different system but I would like to browse around and get my new recipes and stuff like that.
Anyone encounter this in Windows Vista? It had happened previously on my laptop and I had to do a forced shutdown and then reboot. At that time I got the screen that windows was shutdown improperly..blah blah blah. Once it was up again it ran fine. Now the computer will not boot at all. The power light will come on and I can hear the drive spinning but the screen does not even attempt to light up. It will shut down and restart itself after about 1 minute and continue to do this until I force it to turn off again.
Any ideas? Any recommendations as to where to bring it to get it fixed? It is only about 1.75 years old.
