So much to do

For the past few months I've been working away on doing the production work for a comic anthology. I find it really rewarding working as a production manager/editor on sequential art. It's taking a skill that is frankly very boring and using for something I love.

That being said, I am tearing my hair out over some of these submissions. I realize most artists don't know a lot about print production, which makes sense. However, by not understanding basic production you run the risk of your art becoming unusable and therefore a waste of your time and talent.

In the future, I would like to make a little production handbook both for artists, zinesters, and even graphic designers. Just super basic stuff like standard book sizes, How big you would have to have the pages of each book should it be full bleed, types of binding, differences in printing formats, color profiles, dangers of half tone screens, etc. If you can think of anything that would be handy in this pocket book, feel free to let me know.

A few people have been talking about march being more art march. Basically, draw everyday for march. This is something I can get down with. Considering I have a big con at the end of the month this challenge is not only beneficial but borderline necessary. I'm sure I'll have time to do request days but those are TBA later.

coming to a close

I've had this account since 2006. I just graduated high school and was excited to start college and begin a new life for myself. I've grown up a lot since then; both as a person and artistically. But now I've graduated and I'm starting a new chapter of my life. Sadly, I don't think LJ is going to be a part of it.
This does not mean that I don't like what LJ has done for me. I think that this was a good place for me to vaguely chronicle my life. I've met a lot of a great people here and if I could, I'd do it all over again. Fact of the matter is, I haven't been active because I don't think I have anything to say here.

To all your fine people out there: this is not a good bye. I may pop in every once in a while to comment on things, just don't expect any new updates from me here. But if you want to actually see anything from me I suggest you check out these fine places.

Merry christmas everyone. Here is a piccy of what I got this year.

Yes, that is a sonic shirt. Greatly debating if I should recolor it and put "original the character" somewhere on it.

I also got a 500 GB hard drive and a coat rack. I'm already using the coat rack and I'll probably need to install the hard drive soon.

Also, for today I'm trying to do as many sketches as possible. Why not head over to my tumblr and make a request?

›Winter break or lack thereof
This is my first year of not having a winter break. I've usually kept myself busy for this time of the year, but it always felt optional. It's not even that I mind working on a regular basis, I just
I don't know why adjusting to post-schooling is so difficult for me. Alright, difficult is a bit strong. I jut feel out of place knowing that I'm having to adjust. I'm fine with working, I just feel that I need to be careful of where I step. Don't get complacent, but be content; it's a fine line to walk along.

›Getting stuff done for realzies
I've given myself a deadline for posting comic project. Pages will start being posted on the 31st. For the time being, update schedule will be once a week.

›Habits I am developing
Why is cleaning my room so therapeutic lately? I'm just really enjoying the fact that maybe for a day or two I get to spent my time in an area where there isn't bags of junk on the floor. Not being a hobo/insane FTW.

I woke up and thirty years passed

I really don't have anything interesting to talk about. My life has become this routine of mediocrity so there really isn't anything new to report. Well, the only things I really have to report on are all my plans falling through. Internship is still up in the air, job has become just this thing I do to pass the time, travel plans have been shot/postponed, life overall feels stagnant.
I've also noticed that the days are passing me by faster. At first I thought this was a good thing. I just gotta wait out to hear about internship or something else. Then I remembered a the cliche of "waking up and realizing thirty years have passed and that the temporary job I got out of desperation was my career". I can see how that happens to people now. It's all too easy to get sucked into a routine without attaining your goals. True, I've only been doing this for a few months but I'm already bored with my life and the past few weeks have just been something to trudge through. I know what I want but I feel like I'm doing nothing to try and get it. The only thing I've done is talk to my manager about cross training so I can get more hours and by default get out of this house. I've made no effort to make any like minded friends that I desperately need here. As for art, well you can probably tell, I'm completely unmotivated and disillusioned. I'm not happy with my work anymore and I feel like I'm putting too many expectations on what I'd like it to be.

No more excuses. No more procrastinating. If I want my life to change I need to put fourth the effort. My dreams are not going to fall out of the sky for me. I want to make friends: I need to get out of the house and quit being so anxious about talking to people I don't know. Granted, I've never really had friends outside of work or school but it's time to learn how and where to meet new people. I'm displeased with my work: it's time to draw everyday and push my limits. I'm unmotivated: force myself to get things done.

It's time to grow up.
