It’s amazing how long a day can feel when you’re waiting excitedly for something in the future. It’s not the same as waiting in line at the pharmacy or the bank, because those are dull types of waiting, just a complete waste of time, whereas waiting with excitement is like becoming a wind-up car, and the longer you wait the more tightly wound you become until you eventually speed off and hit the leg of a table.
Which is just a temporary deceleration, because the moment you roll away from the table, you start winding up again.

It’s amazing how long a day can feel when you’re waiting excitedly for something in the future.

me waiting to open tumblr on my laptop <3

And as she does, you feel fingertips brushing against the small of your back, where your t-shirt bulges out a little because you like to keep it tucked at work, which means it gets stretched out when you sit or squat.

my love!!

He likes the women more than the men, overall, because in his experience, women come to work and get stuff done. They like to keep busy, and they like to see results for their efforts, whereas the men are generally the ones who will happily stand around and gossip for an hour, while their stations are unmanned and producing nothing at all.'

A relative of mine just started working at Amazon… THIS IS ALL TRUEEEEE
Honestly even at the other warehouse my relative worked at. They'd just stand around. Some women too of course but WAY way less!

But the moment his food is consumed, he takes both his own and your dishes and goes to wash them,

This is the sexiest thing a man could do

“No, I know, I just wanted to say that it felt so cheap once I’d said it, whether you’d heard it or not. I never wanted to suggest what’s building between us is that shallow.    At least, that’s not how I see it, and I’m pretty sure you don’t either. I just wanted to make that clear.”

I love reader <3

“Nothing at all,” he cryptically answers, and there’s a glimmer in his eyes which tells you that he’s got it all planned out, and he wants to surprise you.

Your date, however, is incredibly confident. He doesn’t drive aggressively or even particularly fast, but therein lies the proof of his mastery, not only over the machine but over his own ego as well.

ignore what i said! everything this man does is sexy!

Sorry for the late reply, I’m in a bit of a downer writing wise, so I haven’t been here much 🥺 But the next chapter is coming along, it’s 2/3 done!

About men working at traditionally male workplaces, I wrote that from experience! I work in a energy factory and by god can men gossip!! They don’t come to actually work, they come to socialize, and I swear, they love nothing better than to tattle about what everyone else are getting up to 😆

I agree, everything Pero does is sexy! No spoilers but the next chapter is potentially swoon-inducing 🤩

Thank you once again for your tireless support, you have no idea how much I appreciate it 🙏

pero tovar fanfiction pero tovar x female reader pero tovar x reader the great wall fanfiction pedro pascal characters pedro pascal character fanfiction

So… have any of you ever considered the psychology behind “people-pleasers”?

Cause I hadn’t, until very recently, and having discovered that they’re actually extremely selfish, I’m no longer sure I like them all that much.

“But Jay, aren’t people pleasers just super friendly and kind? Why would you not like them?”

Oh, where to start? How about with the question of why they feel the need to please everyone?

“Because they like to make people happy, obviously!”

Well, no. From a psychological perspective, what they’re actually doing is avoiding conflict at all cost. Meaning that when they talk to you, seemingly bonding and building a relationship, what’s really happening is that they’re just saying what they think you want them to. Even when they share things that are personal to them, they’re editing, but not to protect you. Instead, they edit to ensure you’ll feel seen and heard, which means you’ll trust them more.

“So? That doesn’t make them bad people.”

No, it doesn’t. But here’s where things get difficult for me. Because while this is usually not done with any malicious intent, the problem is that when I’m talking to someone, thinking that we’re building trust and that I can rely on this person, they’re not actually becoming my friend, only the illusion of one.

Their commitment can only ever go so deep, because they’re doing the same thing to dozens of people all the time. Have you ever tried being a truly good friend to several people at once? It takes a lot of time and effort, a lot of memory space and emotional availability to be a true friend to just one person, yet I’m expected to believe these people are doing that with everyone they meet?

“Okay, so maybe they’re not a real friend to everyone, but that doesn’t mean they’re selfish!”

Um, actually it does. For the simple reason that they’re doing all this to minimize having to endure emotional or psychological discomfort. Meanwhile, the people they’re pretending to care about are being duped, and then left behind when the people pleaser inevitably gets too many ‘friends’ to handle.

Now, I will say that this does not apply to all cases and all scenarios and when we mix online relationships into the batter, there are other variables to consider. But the ones I’ve met in real life have been at workplaces, and I’ve always wondered why they’ve suddenly just stopped talking to me, assuming I’ve done something wrong or just overshared one too many times.

When in fact, I never even mattered to begin with.

And here I thought the reason I haven’t been able to make many new friends the past decade is because I’m not interesting enough….

*Update because I asked my therapist about this, and here’s what she had to say:

Me: Why do I struggle with people pleasers?

T: Oh, that relates to your trust issues.

Me: How do you mean?

T: Well, people pleasers are always looking to protect themselves in some way, and the way they do this is by making sure no one can ever blame them for anything or claim they did something wrong. But the reason behind that is a deep fear of conflict or even harm, which makes their behavior ultimately self-serving. And to your mind, which is always looking for falseness in people to warn you not to trust them, this becomes a big red flag. You can sense that their behavior isn’t actually honest to their character, only to the situation at hand, and that’s enough to make you recoil.

Me: So, the problem is that our fears are non-compatible?

T: Pretty much. It doesn’t mean you can’t trust them, but it does mean you also can’t take their words at face value, since you can’t know when they’re in their self-preservation mode, or when they’re telling you what they actually think or feel. And for someone like you, with such deeply rooted trust issues, that becomes too uncertain for you to ever feel comfortable with.

Me: Should I just avoid that personality type, then?

T: In as much as you’re able, I would say yes. You’re still learning to trust anyone at all, and that’s gonna take a long time, so for now I would suggest not setting yourself up for failure, if you’re able to avoid it. But since this behavior is often hard to spot at first, you’re likely going to fail sometimes anyway.

Me: At this point I feel like avoiding most people most of the time anyway.

T: I know you do, and that’s not healthy. But I see where your hopelessness comes from and I do understand how you got there. You still want to trust people, so you keep trying, and every time they disappoint you, that further solidifies your belief that no one is ever honest or trustworthy. But honesty is hard, especially for those who have never been on your side of the fence and experienced how damaging long-term falseness can be.

Me: I envy those people so much. But at the same time, I feel like they’re the ones who are the most blind when it comes to seeing or understanding the pains of others. I don’t think I’d like to be that kind of person.

T: Even if it meant your life would be much more carefree?

Me:… I honestly don’t know.

In conclusion, yes, people pleasers are ultimately self-serving, but this is mostly not an issue unless the person they’re interacting with has trust issues. At least, that’s my interpretation. You’re all welcome to disagree, of course.
