up and running making my armends
the best death note joke format will forever be L asking light a simple question in which logical answer A might increase the likelihood of light being kira and logical answer B similarly might increase the likelihood of light being kira and after a short internal struggle light comes up with answer Y, which no human being has ever thought of as being a normal response in all of living history
the "what are your pronouns" comic is my fave example.
For those unfamiliar, or simply wanting to see it again:
And so they stood on the walls of the City of Gondor, and a great wind rose and blew, and their hair, raven and golden, streamed out mingling in the air.
the vampire armand, inspired by jawlensky's dancer
i saw the original piece in a museum a while ago, and i was fascinated by the painting as it reminded me of the picture of dorian gray - but make it expressionism!
the allure, the androgyny, the danger...
aspects that also remind me of a certain iwtv character <3
i tried to imitate the expressionistic style by keeping the visible brush strokes and the extreme colour contrasts, as well as the somewhat abstracted features and areal application of paint. however, i discarded the black-and-white contrast of the face, because unlike palma vecchio (italian guy who painted the adoration of the shepherds, which portrays armand in iwtv) i didn't intend to white wash armand, and i didn't like the notion of armand painting his face white for the stage. i also gave up on the abstracted and androgynous clothing of the dancer (the original), in favour of somewhat traditional indian clothing since i've barely seen any fanart of armand in said clothes. i kept the rose tho because i love it :)
"Stop saying 15 year olds with weird interests are cringe, they're 15" this is true however you should also stop saying adults with weird interests are cringe because who gives a shit
To wit:
I want to share some wisdom from my high school art teacher.
In my AP Art class, there was a girl who was just starting to experiment with mixed media. At this point she was still playing around, trying to decide what direction she wanted to go with her portfolio. So one critique day, she brought in an abstract canvas with some rhinestone highlights and painted and real peacock feathers. She loved sparkles and peacock feathers so she thought she’d try introducing them a *little*. And after everyone had given some input, the teacher gave her his advice, VERY roughly paraphrased here:
“So here’s the thing… I do not like this style. These are just elements that do not speak to me personally, but I see that you like them, and you’re doing interesting things with them.
“My biggest critique is, I only merely *dislike* this piece. I want you to make me HATE it. Go crazy with the things that you like. Don’t hold back trying to make it palatable to people like me. Because I am NEVER going to like it. And if the audience does not like it, it should drive them crazy seeing how much YOU love it.”
Her portfolio was chock full of neon colors and glitter and rhinestones and splashes of peacock feathers and it was a delight. Our teacher despised every piece lol, but she got great marks and I think even won some awards. And more importantly, she was happy and proud of the results. Because she didn’t limit herself by trying to appeal to people who were never going to enjoy what she enjoyed.
Takeaway here: be as cringe as you want. Don’t limit yourself based on other ppl’s tastes. They’re not you, and you are incredible 💕
This is the most inspirational thing I've read all week. Possibly all year
stay whimsical, forest creature
just thirteen dwarves and their hobbit!!
i just love all the stories about production on project hail mary. they didn't use a single green/blue screen in the whole film. they built the whole interior of the hail mary. the petrova line scene was done practically by putting infrared lights on a chicken wire cage. rocky's voice was one of the puppeteers because he did such a good job during filming that they couldn't imagine anyone else voicing him. and rocky was a practical puppet/animatronic! sandra huller picked sign of the times as her karaoke song and she asked her daughter if it was still a cool song. i just feel like there was so much love making this film and im obsessed
