[Name]: Katarina Du Couteau
[Canon]: League of Legends
[Age]: not stated, around 25
[Gender]: Female
[Canon Point]: After coronation of Jericho Swain as Grand General
[History]: The Lore
[Personality]:
When General Du Couteau got his first daughter, Katarina, he didn't know in what kind of woman she would grow up to be. He wanted a son, someone to succeed him, and while keeping that wish a deep secret he watched Katarina grow. And grew she did. Into a beautiful, intelligent, brash, quick-witted and very violent lady. And after seeing how and in which way Katarina grew, after getting second daughter, General stopped wishing for a boy for his heir is already there.
Katarina wasn’t a typical girl and throughout her ageing up she didn’t show interest in things that other girls liked- tea parties, dresses, dolls. Even as a child, Katarina disliked the thought of having to abide someone else’s rule and style of living and she rather spent her time training with her father’s daggers than sitting on some boring, afternoon gathering that her mother and older sister attend.
From young age, after cutting off fingers to her friend, Katarina was trained by most skillful assassins in the country under the orders of the General. She learned fast that it was not smart to trust anyone so easily, to be wary of every movement, every word for in a blink of an eye, you could lose your life. The life in Noxus demanded not to only be careful, but extra careful. No one will look out for you and no one will coddle you. No one will fix your mistakes, and one mistake means that your life is over. Staying cautious and vigilant is a key to survive the harsh envoriment of the country that is stained with blood.
Once she learned that, once she experienced what her teachers were telling her, Katarina never let herself be swept away by feelings of attachment to another person. She only trusted her blade and believed her eye. Living in constant danger had made her senses as sharp as the edge of the blades she uses. The closest thing of a relationship she got to were familiar feelings towards Talon, one of General's apprentices, and, of course, her sister Cassiopeia. She considered Talon as her younger brother, despite the fact that he was taken is as an apprentice of her father. They shared same intrest in blades and spent days crafting them and training. Cassiopeia, on the other hand, kept her distance towards Talon and wasn’t too close to Katarina. Katarina suspected it was because of the fact that she was turned into half-snake, so she didn’t blame her. They got along, even if their style of fighting and points of view differed in big scales.
With years, Katarina understood where her place is as a daughter of the Du Couteau family- with her country, its needs and the battlefield. She had proven not once, but many, many times to her superiors that her abilities were impecable, flawless and were used solely for Noxus. She had always remained loyal to the bone, and when the prestige of her country is in jeopardy, everything else falls into second plan. She is ruthless and unforgiving to the traitors, beheading the most dangerous threats herself.
Her father had taught her well enough never to forget that she has a potential to sit at the top of Noxus one day, and she honed her skills and guarded her country from that day forward. However, she doesn’t plan to sit on the throne, yet. She considers herself too young for such thing, and very inexperienced. She wants to travel and learn and meet other people, to fight them, to conquer lands and emerge victorious.
Still, she is not satisfied with the decision of the High Command to allow Swain to take the throne of Noxus as a Grand General. She is sure that Swain has himself involved with the disappearance of her father so she didn't trust him. She had her own sense of justice and she was intelligent- she could put two and two better than anyone in the Noxus. But she remained silent and in the shadows. While she disagreed with Swain, there was no one else as strong as him to keep the country together at the moment. Katarina decided to travel and unravel the truth behind the curtains that Swain was dragging over their eyes.
When challenged, Katarina is known not to show mercy on her enemy, and she has very little patience for the people that waste her time. They are either here on the mission or they are not- if you are in the way and useless, she will not hesitate even one second to eliminate a threat for her assignment.
Especially when she is picked to fight on the Summoner’s Rift. She uses her skills to full potential there, she is ruthless and doesn’t hesitate to kill in blink of an eye. She can chase down enemy and slay him within minutes before anyone can react. She’s playful, she taunts, she knows she can win and most important is that she enjoys the fight.
When she opens her mouth, there is a note of arrogance in her words. Katarina is extremely self-confident and there are very few people that could sway her. And why shouldn’t she be? She is skillful, has accomplished tasks behind her, a reputation and a nickname that is known throughout Runterra- the Sinister Blade. She never backs down, even if it would put her life in danger. She likes danger and if danger doesn’t find her, she finds the danger herself. She easily adapts to change- whether it is new strategy or envoriment. As a trained soldier, her mind is always clear and she has the will of steel.
Katarina isn’t the friendliest person around- she doesn’t have many friends nor does she know how to make ones. She is quite anti-social and secretive, keeping to her privacy and she is not used to sharing it. After all- she is an assassin. But her competitive nature got her many enemies and rivals such as Garen Crownguard of Demacia. To this day, her blood boils when she meets him on the battlefield, and when looking at her, one could say she lives for the day to run her blade across his throat.
Her name and surname invoked many whispers and stares of surprise and respect, but Katarina didn’t want to end up just that- daddy’s girl. She had her own pride and the strive to prove herself and show that she isn’t just another crayon in the Du Couteau box. Her accomplishments and dedication got Katarina the spot in Crimson Elite and High Command, who were the main the political organization in Noxus.
[Abilities / Strengths & Weaknesses]:
Voracity: Assisting or killing an enemy fills Katarina with adrenaline, making her reflexes and intuition sharper and abilities are easier and faster to access.
Bouncing blades: Her blades are made of such metal when thrown at the enemy it ricochets. Larger blades bounce less but deal bigger damage while smaller blades bounce faster and multiple times but dealing less damage.
Sinister steel: Keeping her blades on thin, almost invisible string, she whirls the blades around her as a defensive move, to make the enemy step away from her.
Blink: Trained as assassin, Katarina has the agility to appears behind the enemy in an instant, dodging oncoming attacks or just making herself an opening to strike down her enemy.
Death Lotus: When in danger with really low possibility of getting away, Katarina gets into state of extreme focus. She uses her specially crafted daggers and in high speed she throws them at the enemy surrounding her. She is always heavily stacked on them.
For the sake of roleplay, abilities such as Voracity, Sinister steel and Death Lotus are toned down considerably. The adrenaline is not filling up as fast for Voracity. Instead of spinning blades, she spins her self holding two knives. Death Lotus will reduce the number of blades from ten to seven and the number of people she can throw them at- from three to two (or even one, if the opponent is strong). Please note me if I have to tone this down even more.
Strengths: She has very high survival instincts after undergoing assassin training by the most talented assassins in Noxus. Her perception and deductions are almost unrivaled, with exception of Jericho Swain, the Grand General. Her skills had brought her to be Head of High Command in her country. She is swift and precise with any type of dagger and knife.
Weakness: Despite wielding blades, Katarina is not good at wielding swords and two-handed weapons. Using skills that require a lot of focus and concentration- like Blinking or Death Lotus, can exhaust her pretty easily and it needs some time before she can use her abilities again. The time span between casting her abilities is the point where she is the most vulnerable.
[Limited Powers]: Katarina's abilities have tendency to drain her stamina if she casts them too quickly, especially Death Lotus and Blink. It needs time before she regains her focus to cast such abilities again. Also she doesn't have strength for fist fighting. She can dodge attack but if one lands on her she is easily wounded and cannot retaliate.

Color me confused because I was sure I was finished with this stuff. [It was as visible as day how annoyed Katarina is as she speaks.]
I thought I was over and done with pirates for decades to come. I had enough of their pitiful trifles over gold and politics. As if Gangplank and Fortune aren't enough of a trouble as it is. [The pirate and the pirate hunter. She doesn't know how she got dragged into their political squabble. She supposes it was Swain's fault in the end- he did have his eye on Miss Fortune for a long time.]
I still can't wash clothes from Bilgewater's stench. While I don't like to ask for help, it would be good to hear from someone how to leave. Noxus is of bigger importance to me than this... shipyard. Then again- I can always 'extract' information if they keep silent. No one said I have to be -nice-.
