Hazel is a Springfield resident that is sometimes seen at the Retirement Castle. She appears to be deaf.

History

She was among the women who pushed Mayor Quimby to create a prohibition law in Springfield. After finding out that the law already existed, the women then pushed Quimby to find a more competent police chief to enforce it, which caused Chief Wiggum to briefly lose his job to Rex Banner.

She appears in the Broadway musical Kickin' It: A Musical Journey through the Betty Ford Center as part of the ensemble.

Homer got to know her after spending a large amount of time at the retirement home.

Residents at the Retirement Castle were listening to the radio as it reported the comet's imminent arrival. They laughed, and Jasper remarked that Orson Welles was at it again. Hazel said, "That young man had a lot of potential."

Hazel was seen with other old people during the song "Goodbye, Middle Class".
