Hamburger Helper

packaged pasta entrees with a wide variety of flavors

Hamburger Helper is a boxed food product made by Eagle Foods. It consists of a dried carbohydrate (often pasta or rice, though potato has been used once), with powdered seasonings contained in a packet. It is mixed with ground beef ("hamburger"), water, milk, and sometimes mayonnaise to create a full one-dish meal. It was made by General Mills in 1971, in response to a meat shortage and rising meat prices.
