Fredrikstad is a city and municipality in Østfold county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Fredrikstad. In 2021, 83,761 people lived there.


The city of Fredrikstad was founded in 1567 by King Frederick II. It is at the mouth of the river Glomma.
The mayor, Arne Sekkelsten, is elected until late 2027.[1]
