History
changeThe club was founded in 1910. Then the football section of the Favorit Kegelclub became independent as the Favorit Athletic Club. On 21 December 1910 became part of the Austrian Football Association. They had to play in the Vienna Second Division. The club was registered in the club register on 1 August 1910, under the name Favoritner Athletik-Sport-Club (Favoritner ASC).
After a few years in the 2nd division and the change of association to VAFÖ in 1926, Favoritner AC played again in the general association after the banning of VAFÖ in the 1934/35 season. They played then in the II. Liga Group North. The team promptly won the championship title there and also won the promotion playoffs against SK Slovan Wien from the Second League Group South with an aggregate score of 4:3. From 1936 to 1938, FavAC played in the highest Austrian league for the first time. After relegation in 1938, the club only managed to reach the first division again between 1983 and 1985. After four years in the top two leagues, the club had to play in the 3rd league, the Regionalliga Ost.
In 1990/91, FavAC achieved promotion back to the second division and remained there for the next three years. During this period they reached the Austrian Cup semi-finals in the 1991/92 and 1992/93 season. The 1993/94 season saw relegation back to the Regionalliga Ost (third tier). The team immediately was promoted back to the second division in 1994/95.
After another year in the second division, FavAC was forced to withdraw from competition after the autumn of the 1996/97 season due to financial difficulties. They were to the third-tier Regionalliga Ost. In the 2001/02 season, following the club's 90th anniversary, FavAC was promoted back to the Vienna City League (fourth tier). In the 2022/23 season, FavAC won the championship and was promoted to the Regionalliga Ost (third tier), from which they were relegated two years later.
