Face ID is an biometric authentication facial recognition system developed by Apple Inc. It worked on iPhone, iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad Mini and iPad. It was first launched in November 2017 as iPhone X was released. With that, the physical home button was removed.^[1]

Works

Use an iPhone X or later (excluding SE models) or an iPad Pro (3rd generation or later). Once Face ID recognizes you, swipe up to unlock. You can also set up an additional appearance (an extra Face ID) on supported iPhone and iPad models..^[4]
