An examination board is an academic department that designs and administers exams, curricula, and student performance, and grants academic or vocational degrees. It is primarily used to provide a standardized, fair, and generally accepted measure to educational institutions.
There are several examination boards that operate internationally; a few are as follows:
- Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) is an organization based in the University of Cambridge in England. It awards international credentials such as Cambridge IGCSE, O Level, AS Level, and A Level, which are widely applied in several schools in different countries.
- Pearson Edexcel, a Pearson (PLC) subsidiary in London, is a provider of academic qualifications such as GCSEs, International GCSEs, and A Levels. They are applied in the United Kingdom and other parts of the world.[1]
- The International Baccalaureate is based in Geneva, Switzerland. Its flagship IB Diploma Programme is focused on critical thinking and international education, and its qualifications are accepted by global universities.
