Bellamy salute

palm-out salute originally intended to accompany the American Pledge of Allegiance (1892 - 1942)

The Bellamy salute is a straight right arm with the palm facing downward salute toward the flag of the United States. The salute was done while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.[1] It was known as the flag salute from 1892-1942, until it was replaced after Congress amended the Flag Code on December 22, 1942.[2]
