I've had an idea for a Murderbot fic for a some months, just a concept that I was like 'that would be fun to play with sometime, and I haven't seen it done yet.' Well, yesterday I thought I would open the second book and copy some passages that I would need to reference for world building. So late last night I pulled it up on Kindle and got what I needed into a Word doc, and was then like, "well, I could go ahead and write the setting the stage part, so I have the fun part to jump into later." I did that, and then just... kept going. I was literally up until sunrise, but I wrote 4000 words, and of course what I thought would be a one shot has turned into a multi-chapter fic, and that's only the first chapter. I went ahead and edited it this afternoon, and posted it less than 24 hours after I wrote it. That's something I haven't done in a long while, but I just wanted to throw it out there. It's a fic I'm having fun with and not taking too seriously, which is the total opposite of the last fic I wrote, where every line felt like it had to be perfect (still super satisfied with that one, but man it took a long time to write). Anyway, yay Murderbot fic! It's a canon divergence, which seems to be one of the tropes I repeat throughout fandoms.

I love it when the fic flows like that!
